Walaa’ Jamal al-Namla

August 01, 2014: Walaa’ Jamal al-Namla, 24, was killed by Israeli soldiers who fired two missiles at her and her family, while fleeing from their home in the al-Tanour neighborhood, east of Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Walaa’ was killed along with her husband, Yousef Sharif al-Namla, 25, and his sister Angham Sharif al-Namla, 11.

The Israeli missiles also injured six other family members, including a woman and four children, in addition to causing damage to several homes.

Among the wounded Palestinians were Israa’, 19, whose both legs were amputated, her husband, Wa’el, whose left leg had to be amputated, and their 2-year-old daughter, Abeer, who suffered serious burns.

Israa was transferred to a hospital in Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank, while her husband was transferred to a hospital in Jerusalem.

Wael’s sister, Shahed, 10, was badly burned but remained conscious after the attack, and tried to wake Walaa’, but she was already dead. Shahed became deeply traumatized and ‎refuses to walk in the streets. ‎

At least seventy-three Palestinians, including more than sixteen children, were killed by Israeli missiles and shells that day alone, in different parts of the Gaza Strip. Walaa’ was from Rafah. Source: Mezan Center for Human Rights, IMEMC
