May 09, 2023: Yousef Jamal Saber Khaswan, 20, was killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip targeting several areas in the besieged coastal region.

The airstrikes led to at least thirteen deaths, including women and family members, and at least twenty injuries.

Among the dead was Dr. Jamal Khaswan, the Chairperson of the Administrative Board of Al-WAFA Hospital.

Israel claimed that Al-Bahtini directed the firing of homemade shells from Gaza over the past month.

Ghannam is a leader of the Military Council of the Islamic Jihad, and Ezzeddin, from Arraba town near Jenin in the northern West Bank, is a senior leader of the movement.

According to initial reports, the strikes targeted areas in Gaza City, and Khan Younis in the southern part of the coastal region, leading to extensive property damage, nine deaths, and many injuries.

The reports also said the strikes targeted Islamic Jihad leaders and members of the group’s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades.

The Quds News Network said the Palestinians were killed when the Israeli army fired missiles at the homes and apartments of several leaders and senior officials of the Islamic Jihad movement.

Following the assassinations, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held an urgent meeting to discuss certain precautionary measures for Israelis living in settlements near the Gaza Strip in anticipation of retaliation from the Islamic Jihad and possibly other armed resistance groups.

The Israeli Coordinator of the Government Activities in the occupied territories declared a closure of the Erez (Beit Hanoun) and Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossings between the Gaza coastal region and Israel immediately after the army started bombing Gaza.

The Israeli Home Front Command also advised the Israeli living near the Gaza Strip to stay near shelters and banned all forms of gatherings in open places for more than ten people, in addition to banning gatherings in closed buildings for more than 100, the Israeli Jerusalem Post said.

The Israeli army said the strikes on Gaza came almost a week after dozens of shells were reportedly fired from the Gaza Strip, following the death of Islamic Jihad member Khader Adnan, 45, who died on May 2, at an Israeli prison after 87 days of hunger strike demanding his freedom as he was held under Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.

On May 3, a Palestinian man, Hashel Mubarak Salman Mubarak, 58, was killed by Israeli missiles in the Shati refugee camp northwest of Gaza City.

May 09, 2023: Laila Majdi Mustafa Al-Bahtini, 44, was killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip targeting several areas in the besieged coastal region.

The airstrikes led to at least thirteen deaths, including women and family members, and at least twenty injuries.

Laila was killed along with her husband and their child.

Among the dead was Dr. Jamal Khaswan, the Chairperson of the Administrative Board of Al-WAFA Hospital.

The Al-Quds Brigades issued a statement mourning Ghannam, the secretary of the group’s ‘Military Council’, Khalil Al-Bahtini, a member of the ‘Military Council’ in the Northern District, and Tareq Ibrahim Ezzeddin, one of the senior armed leaders of the group in the West Bank, and vowed retaliation.

The reports also said the strikes targeted Islamic Jihad leaders and members of the group’s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades.

Samer Salah Shafe’ey

May 06, 2023: Samer Salah Shafe’ey, 22, was shot and killed by Israeli forces during an invasion of the Tulkarem refugee camp north of Tulkarem city in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.

Media sources said several Israeli military vehicles invaded the refugee camp, leading to protests before the soldiers fired a barrage of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that the soldiers killed Samer Salah Shafe’ey, 22, after shooting him with live rounds in the neck, chest, and abdomen, and Hamza Jamil Kharyoush, 22, after shooting him in the chest, abdomen, and left leg.

The Health Ministry added that the soldiers also shot a young man with a live round in the leg, inflicting moderate wounds, and caused many Palestinians to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation, cuts, and bruises.

The soldiers also abducted Ibrahim Shallash, 20, and Mohammad Baleedy, 23, before withdrawing from the refugee camp.

The Israeli army published a video showing the soldiers killing the two young men; one of them can be seen carrying a gun on a rooftop but unaware of their presence until they fired many live rounds at him and killed him.

Thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral processions of the two slain young, starting in front of Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarem, carrying Palestinian flags and chanting for ongoing resistance until liberation and independence, before heading to Tulkarem refugee camp.

The funeral was held at the Salam Mosque in the Tulkarem refugee camp before the two were buried at the Shuhada graveyard in the Thannaba area, east of Tulkarem.

Diar Omari

May 06, 2023: Diar Omari, 20, a Palestinian resident of the village of Sandala, part of the Gilboa Regional Council in northern Israel, was shot and killed by an Israeli paramilitary colonial settler from the nearby Israeli colony Gan Ner.

The victim was identified as Diar Omari, 20, a Palestinian-Israeli citizen from Sandala, not far from Affula in the Northern District. He leaves behind two sisters and his parents.

According to local sources, Amri was critically wounded by multiple gunshots and was taken to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula, where he was declared dead.

Israeli police said it arrested a 32-year-old Israeli man suspected of being the shooter.

The Israeli gunman is a reserve soldier with the Golani Brigade of the Israeli army and was discharged just a few days ago.

He was not named, but the police said he had a handgun, suspected of being the gun used to shoot Omari.

The attack took place after a traffic incident; both men had been driving cars but got out, and the Israeli man got out his gun and began shooting at the Palestinian, fatally wounding him.

One of Diyar’s relatives told the Arabs48 News website said the whole issue started after a simple traffic incident before the two argued and the Diyar started walking to his car to leave the area and avoid further tension, but the Israeli shot him without justification since it was clear he was not in any danger.

A video released on social media showed the two men arguing, and then the Israeli human pulled out a gun and opened fire at Diar.

The incident could have ended without a fatality if the Israeli gunman did not use his weapon not only to shoot the young man but to inflict fatal wounds, especially since he fired several rounds at him.

Following the shooting, protests began in the village of Sandala. Israeli police deployed into the village, assaulted many Palestinians who protests the young man’s murder, and detained three.

The Israeli police did not reveal sufficient information but said the Israeli who fatally shot Omari claimed: “he killed him in self-defense after feeling his life was in danger,” and added that the officers took the gun he used in the shooting.

The police also detained two persons who allegedly hurled stones at Israeli cars while protesting the young man’s death and called on the Israelis Gan Ner settlement, south of Affula, to remain in their colony until the situation calms down.

Iman Ziad Ahmad Odah

May 04, 2023: Iman Ziad Ahmed Odeh, 26, was killed by Israeli soldiers near Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, after the army claimed she attacked soldiers, mildly wounding one.

Media sources said the soldiers shot Iman with a live round in the chest near Einabus junction in the center of Huwwara town, south of Nablus.

After shooting the young woman, the army closed the area and refused to allow Palestinian medics to approach her.

Later on, Palestinian Red Crescent medics (PRCS) were able to reach Iman and perform the urgently needed medical attention before rushing her to Rafidia hospital in Nablus where she was officially pronounced dead.

The Israeli army claimed the woman attacked a soldier with a knife, but the soldier pushed her away and shot her, and added that another security officer also opened fire at the woman.

According to the military, the wounded soldier suffered a mild injury and was moved to an Israeli hospital.

Her death brings the number of slain Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers since the beginning of this year to 107, including 20 children and two women.

Earlier in the morning, Israeli soldiers killed three young Palestinian men and injured at least four after the undercover force infiltrated the Old City of Nablus, and surrounded a home before dozens of military vehicles invaded the area.

May 04, 2023: Hasan Qatanani, 35, was killed by Israeli soldiers who invaded Nablus city, in the northern West Bank, and surrounded a home before firing dozens of live rounds and several shells at the property, killing him and two other Palestinians and wounding at least four.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry identified the slain Palestinians as Moath Masri, 35, Hasan Qatanani, 35, and Ibrahim Jabr, 45.

It added that the remains of two of the slain Palestinians were severely mutilated due to Israeli Energia rockets and shells fired at a home the soldiers surrounded.

The Israeli attack started when undercover forces infiltrated the al-Yasmina neighborhood in Nablus’s Old City and surrounded a home before a large military force invaded the area and used a drone to fire a missile at the property before firing more shells and dozens of live rounds, killing the three young men.

Palestinian medics rushed to the area of the attack, but the soldiers fired many live rounds at their ambulances, preventing them from reaching the home or its surrounding area.

Ahmad Jibril, the head of the Emergency Department at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Nablus, said the many Palestinians protested the invasion before the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs.

Jibril stated that the soldiers injured 166 Palestinians, including four who were shot with live rounds, ten who fell as the army chased them, and 152 who suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation, especially since the army fired the gas bombs at random, many striking homes or landing near them.

Among the wounded were many schoolchildren who suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation in their schools near the invaded area.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education in Nablus said it had to evacuate 16 schools in the invaded area and its surroundings to ensure the children’s safety, especially since the soldiers were firing many live rounds and gas bombs.

The Israeli army claimed that two of the slain Palestinians, Moath Masri and Hasan Qatanani, were responsible for a shooting attack last month, leading to the death of three Israelis from the Dee family in the Jordan Valley, last month, and alleged that Jabr aided them in fleeing the scene. The three are from the illegal Israeli colony of Efrat, built on Palestinian lands near Bethlehem.

The army also confirmed more than 200 soldiers took part in the invasion, adding that they used anti-tank shoulder-mounted missiles and stun grenades dropped from military drones.

The Health Ministry said the death of the three young men brings the number of slain Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers since the beginning of this year to 107, including 20 children and one woman.
