Yousef Abu ‘Athra

March 22, 2017: Yousef Sha’ban Abu ‘Athra, 16, was killed by Israeli soldiers who fired shells and live rounds into Palestinian lands in Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Two other Palestinians suffered moderate-to-severe injuries from the attack. The Israeli army claimed it opened fire on Palestinians who aroused suspicion by heading towards the border fence. Following the attack, Israeli tanks carried out a limited invasion into Palestinian lands, close to the fence. In a press release, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said several civilians intended to sneak into Israel for work when the army fired artillery shells, one striking the child to the upper part of his body. : Husam Hameed Soufi, 24, was killed by Israeli missiles while he was working in a siege-busting border tunnel, in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Mohammad Anwar al-Aqra’, 38, was also killed in the strike, while at least five Palestinians were injured and buried under the rubble.

Abdel Fattah Abu Sleimeh

September 10, 2014: Abdel Fattah Hussein Abu Sleimeh, 72, died from serious wounds suffered on August 21, 2014, when Israeli soldiers fired nine missiles from their war jets targeting the home of Nasser Hussein Kullab, and nearby homes, in Canada area, in Tal al-Sultan, west of Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The three-story, 200 square/meter Kullab family home was inhabited by two families of fourteen members, and was destroyed by the Israeli missiles, while six nearby homes were severely damaged.

The Israeli strikes led to the death of twelve Palestinians in these targeted homes; three of them were leaders of Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. Among the slain Palestinians were four children and three women.

Medical sources in Rafah said at least 54 Palestinians were injured in the attacks, including 22 children and 16 women.

Nidal Soheil Badawi

Nidal BadawiAugust 25th, 2014: Nidal Soheil Hamdan Badawi, 24, years old, died on August 25th of wounds sustained two days prior, on August 23rd, 2014 in al-‘Adas, in the Rafah District of southern Gaza.

He was injured by a missile fired from an Israeli military aircraft while he was walking on Saddam Hussein St. in Rafah. He was a member of the military wing of the Islamic Jihad.

His killing came in the midst of a massive Israeli military invasion of Gaza during July and August 2014, in which
