Kamel Abdullah Alawna

July 03, 2022: Kamel Abdullah Alawna, 17, died of serious wounds he suffered a day earlier after Israeli soldiers shot him in Jaba’ town, southwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Medical sources said Kamel was shot with two expanding bullets, one in the abdomen, causing severe damage to his liver and intestines, and one in the right elbow.

His brother Dr. Mo’taz Alawna said Kamel was instantly admitted to surgery and remained in the Intensive Care Unit until he succumbed to his wounds.

The Palestinian was shot by the soldiers while walking in an area where protests had been taking place after several army jeeps invaded the town.

The soldiers fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades at the protesters and surrounding areas.

Kamel was born in 2004 and was named after his brother, who was killed by the army in 2003; his father is a former political prisoner whom Israel imprisoned for several years.

He was a high school student taking final exams, including an exam scheduled for Monday, July 4.

After his death, thousands of Palestinians marched in his funeral procession in front of Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in the town and chanted against the escalating Israeli violations in occupied Palestine before burying him at the local cemetery.

On Saturday, July 2, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that the Palestinian woman, Sa’diyya Farajallah, 68, the oldest female detainee imprisoned by Israel, died in an Israeli prison less than seven months after Israeli soldiers abducted her.

Sa’diyya Farajallah

July 02, 2022: Sa’diyya Farajallah, 68, died in an Israeli prison less than seven months after Israeli soldiers abducted her. Sa’diyya was the oldest female detainee imprisoned by Israel.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Sa’diyya, from Ethna town west of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, died at the ad-Damoun Israeli prison.

The PPS stated that Farajallah, a married mother of eight, was the oldest Palestinian female detainee in Israeli prisons and that she was abducted by the Israeli soldiers on December 18, 2021, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, after she was injured when many illegal Israeli colonizers attacked her.

Update: On Thursday August 11, 2022, Israel released her corpse before the Palestinians held her funeral procession after the deceased was examined by specialist at the Al-Ahli hospital in Hebron. Read More

The Israeli authorities prevented her family from visiting her throughout her imprisonment; she died at the Damoun Israeli prison.

The woman had diabetes and high blood pressure, diabetes, a heart condition, and various chronic illnesses, and was taking various medications before she was taken, prisoner.

Akram Samara, a lawyer of the Palestinian Detainees Committee, said he saw her last time last Tuesday in court, adding that she was in a wheelchair, unable to speak, and looked very fragile.

Samara said the Israeli authorities refused to provide medical reports detailing her health condition and were denying her the right to medical treatment during her imprisonment.

Her family held Israel accountable for her death, especially since she was denied access to medical attention and her medications and called on the International Community to act and help save the lives of the Palestinian detainees, especially the ones holding extended hunger strikes demanding an end to their arbitrary Administrative Detention without charges or trial.

Sa’diyya died at the Damoun Israeli prison after eight months in prison, including two months in solitary confinement despite her health and chronic conditions.

Her brother, Taiseer Farajallah, demanded an autopsy to know the cause of death and added that the soldiers repeatedly struck and beat his sister, after they claimed she tried to stab a colonizer, near the Ibrahimi Mosque while she was on her way to visit her two married daughters, living in the Old City of Hebron.

“My sister was a woman who struggled to provide for her family despite the dire financial situation,” Taiseer stated.

Sa’diyya’s son, Mohammad, described what happened to his mother as a crime and that his family was not allowed to visit her, adding that when they saw her in court and were not allowed to talk to her, she looked very weak and extremely ill, even unable to speak.

Her death brings the number of detainees who died in Israeli prisons since 1967 to 230.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) called for an immediate investigation into her death.

The PPS quoted a statement by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society stating that a court hearing was held last Tuesday for Sa’diyya, who is the eldest among the female prisoners detained in the Israeli jails.

The statement added that she attended the hearing in a wheelchair, and her lawyer had already asked the Israeli prison service to refer her to a doctor after her medical examinations showed that her health condition was getting worse due to high diabetes and pressure.

“The Israeli Prosecution asked in the hearing that she should be sentenced to five years in prison and 15,000 shekels fine, in compensation; however, no definitive sentence has been so far issued,” the PPS said.

Sa’diyya was among twenty-nine female detainees, including Maysoun Mousa from Bethlehem, who was taken prisoner in 2015 and was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, in addition to Shorouq al-Badan and Bushra Tawil, who are held under the Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.

Nofouth Hammad

Israel is also still holding captive ten Palestinian mothers and a female child Nofouth Hammad, 15, who was tortured during interrogation.

Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah held Israel responsible for her death and called on the International Community to investigate her death and ensure the release of all female detainees, children, elders, and ailing political prisoners.

The Palestinian District Coordination Office (DCO) confirmed that a Palestinian child who was shot and seriously injured by Israeli army fire near Ramallah Friday succumbed to his wounds at an Israeli hospital on Saturday dawn.

The DCO said the Israeli side officially informed that Mohammad Abdullah Saleh Hamed, 16, from Silwad town, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, had succumbed to his serious wounds.

The soldiers shot Hammad during protests that took place after several Israeli military jeeps invaded Silwad.

Talking to Palestine TV, Silwad Mayor, Raed Nimir, told reporters that Mohammad was shot with a bullet in the face near bypass road #60 and added that his corpse would be transferred to his family Saturday before the official burial ceremony was held on the same day.

At the time of his injury, Abdullah’s name or age remained unknown; however, his condition was known to the Palestinians to be serious before the army took him away.

Nimir added that the soldiers invaded the town several times within just a few hours after shooting the child, leading to protests. He also said the town is subject to daily invasions and violations by the soldiers.

Local sources said several military vehicles invaded the town before the army closed roads and interrogated many Palestinians.

They added that many youngsters protested the invasion before the soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs.

Medical sources in Silwad said the soldiers shot a young man with live fire before abducting him and caused several others to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

On Friday night, the soldiers invaded the Jabal ash-Sharaf area in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, attacked a wedding party, and conducted violent searches.

After his death was confirmed, hundreds of residents marched in Silwad at dawn while chanting against the ongoing illegal Israeli occupation and escalating Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

Ali Hasan Harb

Ali HarbJune 21, 2022: Ali Hasan Harb, 27, was stabbed to death by an Israeli paramilitary colonial settler while Israeli soldiers stood by and watched, doing nothing to prevent the murder. Ali was on his family land when the Israeli colonizer invaded his land, along with a number of other Israeli colonizers, who were trying to establish a colonial outpost on the Harb family land. The attack took place in Iskaka village, east of Salfit, in the central West Bank.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the young man, Ali Hasan Harb, 27, was stabbed in the heart and died from his serious wounds.

Eyewitnesses said an Israeli colonizer stabbed Harb when he and several other Palestinians intercepted an attack by the illegal colonizers, who invaded their lands and installed an outpost in the al-Harayeq area of the town.

“I was at home when a shepherd phoned us telling the family that several Israeli colonizers are installing an outpost on our land,” his cousin Firas Naim Harb said, “We went to our land, and once we arrived there, the colonizers ran away and stood at a distance before several other colonizers joined them and invaded our lands again.”

“The Israeli army then arrived in the area and started firing gas bombs at us, and before we knew it, a colonizer ran towards us and stabbed Ali before the soldiers prevented us from helping him,” he added, “The soldiers pointed their guns at us and threatened to shoot us if we approach Ali who was bleeding on the ground. We told the soldiers that we need to provide first aid to Ali and that they can shoot us if they want to, but we have to help him; he was bleeding for thirty minutes.”

“At least fifteen colonizers and armed guards of the Ariel illegal colony were on our land, and despite the presence of Israeli soldiers, one of the colonizers ran towards Ali and stabbed him in the heart,” Firas stated.

The Palestinians had to carry Ali for more than three kilometers to reach a nearby road before the medics rushed him to Yasser Arafat Hospital in Salfit, where he was pronounced dead due to his serious wounds.

A spokesperson for the Israeli police claimed, “It is unclear who stabbed the Palestinian,” and alleged that the police were “investigating the incident,” however, the police did not make any arrests.

The ministry said the 28-year-old, identified as Ali Hassan Harb, had been stabbed in the heart by a settler.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and Prime Minister Mohammad Ibrahim Shtayyeh, issued statements denouncing the crime and calling for international protection for the Palestinian people living under illegal Israeli colonialist occupation.

The office of President Mahmoud Abbas called on the International Community to help end the escalating Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, especially since these deadly violations are carried out without repercussions and are not only committed by the occupation soldiers but also by the illegal colonizers living on stolen Palestinian lands.

“We keep witnessing these crimes, and the international community fails to act. For example, we saw what terrorist colonizers did to the Dawabsha family in Nablus when they firebombed their home as they slept, burning the family  to death, including the 18-month-old Ali Dawabsha, and we also saw what the colonizers did to Mohammad Abu Khdeir, 16, in Jerusalem, when they kidnapped him and burnt him to death by dowsing him in fuel and pouring it down his throat before setting him ablaze….”

The president’s office called on the International Community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and help establish a sovereign, independent, contiguous Palestinian state.

It is worth mentioning that, on May 14, 2021, Israeli soldiers killed his cousin, Awad Ahmad Harb, 27, in the same area.

The Israeli army claimed the soldiers fired live rounds at Ahmad when he reportedly “attempted to damage a section of the Wall” but failed to provide any details of the allegation.

Eyewitnesses refuted the military’s allegations and said dozens of Palestinian workers were trying to cross the gate of the Annexation Wall when the soldiers fired at them to force them to leave, although they carried permits to cross.

The soldiers also attacked Palestinian workers near the Taybeh military roadblock, southwest of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank, and fired gas bombs at them, causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
