February 8, 2019: Yasser Hamed Eshteyya, 36, died in the Israeli prison of Beersheba (Be’er as-Sabe’) due to a lack of adequate medical treatment.

The Palestinian Detainees’ Committee reported that Yasser was serving a life term in Israeli prison after he was convicted of a criminal charge in 2009.

Israeli sources said Eshteyya was found dead in his cell, and the Israeli Prison Authority “initiated an investigation into his death.”

His death just came two days after another political prisoner, identified as Fares Baroud, 51, from Shati’ refugee camp in Gaza, died due to the lack of medical treatment.

Abdullah Faisal Tawalba

February 4, 2019: Abdullah Faisal Omar Tawalba, 19, was killed by Israeli soldiers while riding a motorcycle near the entrance of the al-Jalama village, northeast of Jenin in the northern West Bank. The army claimed that Abdullah and his friend were riding a motor cycle and “hurled an explosive at the soldiers,” but the army did not report any injuries.

Mahmoud Sa’adi, the director of the Emergency Department of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Jenin, said the slain Palestinian has been identified as Abdullah Faisal Omar Tawalba, 19, from the al-Jalama village, and added that Omar Ahmad Hanana, 15, was injured but is in stable condition.

Palestinian medical sources said the medics moved the slain Palestinian, and the wounded teen, to Jenin Governmental Hospital.

They added that Tawalba was shot with several live rounds in the head and legs.

Eyewitnesses said the two were riding a motorcycle near the village, when the soldiers opened fire at them, and denied the Israeli military allegation, stating that the army will say anything to justify murdering Palestinians.

They added that the two Palestinians were riding their motorcycle back home, in al-Jalama and ‘Arrana villages near Jenin, while returning from work.

The Israeli army did not report any injuries among the soldiers, and only issued a brief statement regarding the incident, alleging that the two Palestinians “arrived at the checkpoint riding a motorcycle, and hurled an explosive at the soldiers, causing no injuries.”

It is worth mentioning that the army usually holds the corpses of slain Palestinians suspected of attacking soldiers or colonialist settlers but did not hold Tawalba’s body, and local medics moved his corpse to Jenin Governmental Hospital.

Jenin Governor Akram Rajoub said the Israeli army “seems to have ready justifications for murdering Palestinians, in order to pass these crimes as acts of self-defense by the soldiers,” and added that “these lies, and fabrications are encouraged by the political leaders in Israel.”

Osama al-Qawasmi, a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fateh Movement and its spokesperson in Jenin, called on media outlets not to be mislead by statements made by the Israeli army and media outlets that have the only aim of justifying crimes committed by the soldiers against unarmed Palestinian civilians.

“It seems that every time Israel approaches election, the crimes against the Palestinians, their homes and lands increase,” he added.

On Sunday, a Palestinian man, identified as Ahmad Ghazi Abu Jabal, 30, died of critical wounds he sustained last week, after being shot by Israeli forces offshore the town of Beit Lahia, north of Gaza.

Abu Jabal, from the Sheja’eyya neighborhood east of Gaza city,  was shot and seriously injured, on January 29 2019,  during a naval procession along Beit Lahia Sea and shore, in northern Gaza.

Hamdi Taleb Na’san

January 26, 2019: Hamdi Taleb Sa’ada Na’san, 38, a father of four young children, was killed with a bullet to his back by a group of illegal Israeli colonialist settlers invaded the northern part of the al-Mughayyir village, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

According to an investigation by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, at approximately 15:30 on Saturday, 26 January 2019, a group of Israeli settlers moved into al-Moghayer village, northeast of Ramallah, and rioted on the streets while opening fire at several houses, breaking all the houses’ windows.  Meanwhile, dozens of Palestinian youngsters and young men gathered to throw stones and empty bottles at them.

In response, the settlers immediately and randomly fired a barrage of bullets, wounding Hamdi Taleb al-Na’asan (38) with a bullet that entered his lower back, hit the lungs and then exited from the chest.

As a result, Hamdi fell on the ground and was taken immediately via an ambulance belonging to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, where his death was declared soon after his arrival, due to arriving in a very critical condition.

Following that, the Israeli forces moved into the village to provide protection for the Israeli paramilitary settlers and opened fire at the Palestinian protesters.  As a result, 22 civilians were wounded with bullets; 8 of them were taken to the Palestine Medical Complex, 6 were taken to the Istishari Arab Hospital in al-Rihan Suburb, north of Ramallah, and 8 were taken to the medical center in nearby Termes’aya village. At least one of the civilians shot by the soldiers was critically injured, a number of the others were moderately wounded.

One of the wounded Palestinians was shot with a live round in his mouth, before he was rushed to the Istishari hospital, in Ramallah, in a moderate-but-stable condition.

The Palestinian Health Ministry noted that Hamdi was shot with a live round in his back, and the bullet was logged in the upper abdomen.

When the colonist paramilitary settlers attempted to invade the village, dozens of Palestinians, from the nearby Abu Falah village, rushed to aid the residents of al-Mughayyir, and were also attacked by the soldiers and the colonialist settlers, who fired a barrage of live rounds at them, preventing them from entering the village.

It is worth mentioning that Abu Na’san is a former political prisoner who was imprisoned by Israel for eight years.

Hamdi Nasan and his children

The slain Palestinian man is a married father of four children, the youngest of which was born less than a year ago.

On Saturday at dawn, Israeli police officers shot and killed a  Palestinian man, after the officers opened fire at his car in Bab al-‘Amoud (Damascus Gate) area, in occupied Jerusalem.

The slain Palestinian was identified as Riyad Mohammad Hammad Shamasneh, 37, from Qotna town, northwest of occupied East Jerusalem.

On Friday evening, the soldiers killed a Palestinian teen, identified as Ayman Ahmad Othman Hamed, 17,  from Silwad town, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and wounded another Palestinian, in addition to moderately injuring a young man in ar-Reesan Mountain area, west of Ramallah.

Riyad Mohammad Shamasneh

January 26, 2019: Riyad Mohammad Hammad Shamasneh, 37, was shot and killed by Israeli police officers who opened fire at his car in Bab al-‘Amoud (Damascus Gate) area, in occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli Police said the Palestinian driver “endangered the lives of the officers, who opened fire at the car, and killed him during the ensuing chase.”

The police added that other Palestinians were also in the car, but did not provide further details about them, and only stated that the Palestinian “entered Jerusalem illegally, and was driving a car suspected to have been stolen.”

The Palestinians in the car were heading to their work in occupied Jerusalem, when the officers opened fire at their car.

Although Qotna is in the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli surrounded and isolated the Palestinian town by the Annexation Wall, and its inhabitants have been denied access to occupied Jerusalem since 2004.

Ayman Ahmad Hamed

January 25, 2019: Ayman Ahmad Hamed, 17, was killed by an Israeli sniper stationed in a fortified military tower, who shot the child with a live round in his chest.

The Israeli soldier killed Ayman east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and wounded another Palestinian, in addition to moderately injuring a young man in ar-Reesan Mountain area, west of Ramallah.

The soldier was stationed in a fortified military tower which was installed by the army near Ein Yabrud nearby village.

After shooting the Palestinian, several soldiers surrounded him, and only later allowed Red Crescent medics to approach him. His corpse was then moved to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

The soldiers also shot another young man with a live round in his arm, before he was rushed to a hospital.

In related news, the soldiers attacked dozens of nonviolent Palestinian protesters in ar-Reesan Mountain, which belongs to the villages of Ras Karkar, Kafr Ni’ma and Kharbatha Bani Harith, west of Ramallah.

Medical sources said that during the protest, the soldiers shot a young man with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the head, causing a fracture in his skull and brain hemorrhage. His condition was described as moderate; Several Palestinians suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

The Palestinians have been holding ongoing weekly protests in ar-Reesan Mountain since Israel decided to illegally annex it for the construction and expansion of its colonies.

Qassem Mohammad Ali Abasi

December 20, 2018: Qassem Mohammad Abasi, 17, was killed by Israeli soldiers near Jerusalem.

The soldiers also  injured two others, after opening fire at their car near Beit El military roadblock, north of the al-Biereh city, in the central West Bank governorate of Ramallah and al-Biereh.

The wounded Palestinians have been identified as Mohammad Hani al-Abasi, 28, and two teens; Mohammad Ma’moun Abasi and his brother Mahmoud.

Except for Qassem. They suffered mild-to-moderate wounds, mainly from shrapnel and glass.

Mohammad Hani al-Abasi told Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) that they were heading to Ramallah, but road was closed by the army, before an officer told the drivers there that the road is closed, and will remain closed for about two hours.

He added that the officers told them that they must instead take a bypass road near Beit El.

They then turned the car around to try to find another way, and when they were about to leave the area, a bunch of Israeli soldiers and settlers began chasing their car.

“Soldiers and settlers were all around us, behind is and in front of our car, and that is when they opened fire,” Mohammad added, “the tires were punctured, the windshield and the back window were also broken by bullets.”

“Only then we realized that Qassem was shot — I heard Mahmoud al-Abasi shouting his name over and over, and he was in a very critical condition,” Mohammad stated, “I called for an ambulance, and the soldiers forced us all out, but Qassem was injured, unable to move.”

Mohammad said that he and the other passengers were forced by the Israeli army to take Qassem out of the car, even though he had been shot in the back. They did what the army said, and put him on the ground.

The medical team that arrived declared that Qassem was dead – but the army left the teen lying on the ground for an hour until they allowed an ambulance to come.

The army claimed that the driver of the car “broke through the military roadblock,” before the soldiers opened fire at the car, seriously injuring Qassem, who succumbed to his wounds, and added that “it is still investigating the incident.”

Palestinian sources said Qassem was in a car transporting four Palestinians, all carrying Jerusalem ID cards, and just after arriving at Beit El military roadblock, the soldiers suspected that the car “was involved in a shooting” targeting a bus station on the colonialist road #60, close to Ofra illegal colony, east of Ramallah, although  the distance between Ofra and Beit El is about 2 Kilometers, and the fatal shooting that killed Mohammad took place 40 minutes later.

The army closed Ofra junction after the alleged shooting at the bus station, and said that the soldiers fired back, before the army invaded Ein Yabrud nearby town.

Furthermore, the army completely closed various areas in the governorate, including the gate leading to the al-Jalazoun refugee camp, in addition to the towns of Deir Dibwan, Silwad, Doura al-Qare’, and Ein Siniya.

The soldiers also attacked many Palestinians at Ein Siniya Junction, north of Ramallah, after the army stopped and searched dozens of cars.

Furthermore, the army invaded Doura al-‘Qare’, and declared it a closed military zone, before storming and ransacking many shops, causing excessive damage after the soldiers claimed they were unable to find surveillance recordings in the stores.

The soldiers fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at many Palestinian protesters, and prevented journalists and medics from entering the town.

Sumayya Mahmoud Nasser

December 15, 2018: Sumayya Mahmoud Nasser, 68, died Saturday in Jerusalem when she suffered a heart attack while praying at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli forces stationed outside the mosque prevented an ambulance from reaching her immediately, and the medical team on site was unable to revive her without the medical equipment available on the ambulance.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the Palestinian medics at the al-Aqsa Mosque rushed to the woman after she collapsed while praying. They immediately called for an ambulance, which was stationed near the Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem.

But the Israeli soldiers prevented the ambulance from entering the mosque grounds, delaying it for nearly ten minutes without providing a reason for the delay.

They then let the ambulance pass through to the mosque, where the emergency medical team prepared the defibrillator to use on the woman, but by that time it was too late. She did not survive the rescue attempts, and was declared dead on the way to the hospital.

Five Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces over the previous several days, including a four-year old child.

Mahmoud Nakhleh

December 14, 2018: Mahmoud Nakhleh, 17, was killed by Israeli forces, on Friday, in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said Mahmoud was shot in the abdomen with live bullets during a protest, in the al-Jalazoun refugee camp.

Several people were also injured in confrontations which erupted between Palestinians and invading Israeli forces, during protests in Ramallah, against the Israeli settlement construction and the seizure of their lands.

According to a local Palestinian news agency, Israeli soldiers shot Nakhleh from a distance of fewer than 10 meters.

The soldiers tried to detain Nakhleh afterwards, local news reported, but Palestinian paramedics were able to transport him to the hospital, after a standoff that lasted more than 30 minutes. After Nakhleh was transferred to a hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Ramallah was under a complete lockdown by the Israeli army on Thursday, following a shooting attack by an unidentified Palestinian who killed two Israeli soldiers near the illegal settlement of Ofra, PNN further reported.

Most of the entry checkpoints were reopened on Friday, but Israeli forces remained heavily deployed on the outskirts of Ramallah, and carried out sporadic raids into the twin city of al-Bireh, resulting in Palestinians protesting against their presence.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, at least 100 Palestinians were abducted over the past 24 hours.

Four Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in separate attacks over the past two days.

Protests against the Israeli army continued across the occupied West Bank. In the village of al-Lubban al-Gharbiyeh near Nablus, a Palestinian youth was injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet to his eye.

Other protests took place in the Taqu’a village east of Bethlehem and in Hebron’s Old City, where dozens suffered from tear gas inhalation and sustained wounds from rubber-coated bullets.

In Gaza,  85 Palestinians were injured during anti-occupation protests along the border between the Gaza Strip and the Israeli-occupied territories.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli forces injured 85 Palestinians, including seven medics and three journalists, in Gaza, on Friday.

Tensions have been running high, near the fence which separates Gaza from the occupied territories, since March 30, which marked the start of a series of protests called “The Great March of Return”. Palestinian protesters are demanding the right to return for those driven out of their homeland.

December 13, 2018: Sgt. Yosef Cohen, 20, was shot and killed by a Palestinian gunman in a shooting attack close to the illegal colony of Ofra, near Ramallah, in central West Bank.

He and another Israeli soldier were killed, and two Israeli settlers were wounded in the attack.

The shooting took place at the hitchhiking section of Givat Assag, in the Benyamin Regional Council of Settlements, between Beit El and Ofra, illegal colonies.

Israeli sources said Magen David Adom national emergency medics rushed to the scene, and provided treatment to the two wounded soldiers.

One of the soldiers, who suffered a severe gunshot wound to the head, was rushed to Hadassah Ein Karem hospital, and a woman was taken to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center, in occupied Jerusalem, suffering serious wounds.

The army said, according to its initial investigation, the shooter got out of a vehicle, before approaching the hitchhiking station, and opened fire at the people waiting there, then ran back to the car, where another man was behind the wheel, and both managed to escape unharmed.

The two wounded settlers are in their twenties.

Following the incident, dozens of colonialist Israeli settlers invaded the eastern area of ‘Asira al-Qibliya village, south of Nablus, before the Palestinians intercepted them, leading to confrontations.

The Israeli army also closed the Qalqilia-Nablus road, and installed dozens of roadblocks around Nablus, before stopping and searching hundreds of cars, and imposed a tight siege on Ramallah governorate.

In addition, the soldiers closed Huwwara military roadblock, south of Nablus, and prevented the Palestinians from crossing, while groups of colonialist settlers hurled stones at many Palestinian cars.

It is worth mentioning that, at 1 am on Thursday, a squadron of soldiers and police officers invaded Nablus, surrounded the house where a Palestinian suspected of killing two Israeli settlers a month earlier, was believed to be hiding, and shot and killed the man, who was identified as Ashraf Waleed Suleiman Na’alwa, 23.

On Thursday at dawn, the soldiers killed a Palestinian, identified as Majd Mteir, 26, in the al-Waad Street, in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, after he reportedly stabbed and injured two Israeli police officers.

On Wednesday evening, undercover Israeli soldiers assassinated a Palestinian Taxi driver, identified as Saleh Omar Saleh Barghouthi, 29, near Surda village, north of the central West Bank city of Ramallah; the army claimed the Palestinian was allegedly “involved” in the shooting targeting colonialist settlers, the previous Sunday.
