February 6, 2020: Tariq Lu’ay Badwan, aged 24, succumbed to injuries sustained by Israeli gunfire during confrontations that erupted in Jenin, on Thursday.

Sgt. Badwan, was a Palestinian police officer from Qalqilia. He died after he was shot and injured by Israeli occupation forces while working at the special police headquarters in Jenin.

Badwan was shot by Israeli soldiers while he was standing near the door inside a police station in Jenin.

Badwan was shot in the stomach and then transferred to the Khalil Suleiman Governmental Hospital, and then to Al-Razi Hospital, due to the seriousness of his condition.

The sergeant underwent a surgery that lasted for several hours, with the participation of 5 doctors who administered 30 units of blood, but were powerless to save his life.

Badwan’s death follows that of Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, aged 16, who was killed at dawn while 6 others were wounded in Jenin. Israeli forces also shot dead  Muhammad Salman Al-Haddad , 17,  at the Bab al-Zawiya area of Hebron city.

Yazan was killed Thursday morning when the Israeli military invaded Jenin city and started the demolition of a home belonging to the family of a political prisoner. An additional six Palestinians were wounded with live ammunition.

The six other wounded Palestinians, who were all shot with live fire, have been identified as Majd Azmi, Mohammad Hussein Zeidan, Jamal Mohammad Ghanem, Zein Zeid, Odai Ayman Mer’ery, and Hani Ata Abu Rmeila. All were moved to the al-Razi hospital.

The fatal shooting and the injuries took place during protests that erupted when more than 30 Israeli military vehicles, including bulldozers, invaded Jenin and demolished the home of a political prisoner, identified as Ahmad Abu al-Qombo’, for the second time.

It is worth mentioning that, on April 24th 2019, the Israeli army invaded Jenin and demolished Ahmad’s family home, after accusing him of involvement in a shooting attack that took place near Nablus, leading to the death of an Israeli settler, identified as Rabbi Raziel Shevach, near Nablus.

After being demolished the first time, the home was rebuilt through local society donations and support, however, on January 12th, the Israeli army decided to destroy the property again.

On February 06, 2018, the soldiers killed Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22, in the al-Yamoun, near Jenin, on suspicion of involvement in the fatal shooting.

Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh

February 5, 2020: Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, 19, was one of two Palestinians killed Thursday morning when the Israeli military invaded Jenin city and started the demolition of a home belonging to the family of a political prisoner. An additional six Palestinians were wounded with live ammunition.

Media sources said the soldiers shot Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, 19, with two live rounds in the chest, causing very serious wounds before he was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

They added that the soldiers also injured at least seven other Palestinians, including two who sustained life-threatening wounds, and caused many to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

The other Palestinian killed was a police officer, identified as Lu’ay Ahmad Badwan, 25, from Azzoun town, who was shot by a live Israeli army round in the upper body and died of his wounds hours later. The bullet apparently struck his spine before he was rushed into surgery at the al-Razi hospital, in Jenin city.

Mohammad Nassar Al-Nawajaa

November 28th, 2019: Mohammad Nassar Al-Nawajaa, 56, from Yatta city, south of Hebron, was killed and his son Thaer was moderately injured before dawn on Thursday morning after their vehicle was hit by an Israeli military bulldozer in the Farsh Al Hawa area on the road leading to Taqoumia town, west of Hebron.

Israeli forces struck the car while they were exiting the city of Hebron after a massive demolition campaign before dawn on Thursday, killing the father and severely injuring the son.

The slain man and his son were driving to work in Jerusalem when their car was struck by the Israeli bulldozer.

The Israeli military bulldozer that struck their car was returning, along with the army jeeps, to a nearby military base, after demolishing four Palestinian homes in Beit Kahil, north of Hebron.

The demolished homes are owned by the families of four detainees, identified as Hamad Aref Asafra, his brother Qassem Saleh Asafra, in addition to Nasseer Saleh Asafra and Yousef Atiya Zohour.

The Israeli army claims that the four were involved in killing an off-duty soldier, identified as Dvir Sorek, 19, near the illegal Migdal Oz colony, in the occupied West Bank, on August 9th 2019. Israeli sources said Sorek was part of a program that combines Torah studies and military service.

Israeli military vehicles, including the armored Caterpillar D-9 bulldozers, frequently speed through Palestinian areas, and have on numerous occasions killed and injured Palestinian civilians in this way.

Sami Abu Diak

November 26, 2019: Sami Abu Diak, 37, died at an Israeli hospital after he was systematically denied specialized medical care, leading to serious complications that resulted in his death.

The Palestinian Detainees’ Committee confirmed, on Tuesday morning, that a detainee identified as Sami Abu Diak, 37, was only moved to Assaf Harofeh Israeli Medical Center after a sharp decline in his health.

It also said that its lawyers filed several appeals with Israeli courts, asking to allow his release to receive specialized medical treatment in Palestine, or abroad, but its requested were all denied.

“Sami was subjected to a deliberate policy denying him the right to adequate medical care,” the committee said, “Despite the serious decline in his health, and the constant complications, he was not provided with the urgently needed specialized care, and was only moved to a hospital when he neared death.”

It is worth mentioning that Sami Abu Diak, 37, was serving three life terms and an additional 30 years in prison.

He was taken prisoner on July 17, 2002, and was first diagnosed with intestinal cancer in August of 2015, and underwent surgery, after the prison authority moved him to Soroka Medical Center, but due to a misdiagnosis and a medical error, he faced serious complications, and some of his intestines were removed.

Abu Diak underwent various surgeries, and suffered further complications, including pulmonary and renal failures, in addition to cancer and skin poisoning, and his condition continued to deteriorate since then.

Before his death, Abu Diak’s final message was:

To those with a living conscience…

I am living my final hours and days, there is nothing I would like more than spending them near my mother; between my loved ones, I would love to utter my last breath in my mother’s arms; I do not wish to die cuffed and shackled,

I do not want to die in front of a jailor who loves death, and feeds on our pain and suffering,

Will my words even reach the ears and minds of leaders?!

I am telling you, if I die far away from my mother, I will never forgive you…

Omar Haitham al-Badawi

November 11, 2019: Omar Haitham al-Badawi, 22, was killed by Israeli soldiers in the al-‘Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Medical sources at the al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron said the soldiers shot Omar Haitham al-Badawi, 22, with a live round in the chest.

They added that the soldiers surrounded the refugee camp, and refused to allow the medics through, as they were rushing into it to provide treatment to several Palestinians, including al-Badawi.

Local then placed the seriously wounded Palestinian in a car and rushed him to the al-Mezan Hospital, in Hebron, where he died from his serious gunshot wound to the chest and the massive bleeding.

The fatal shooting took place after the army resorted to the excessive use of force against dozens of Palestinians marching in commemoration of the fifteenth anniversary of the death of the late President Yasser Arafat, before several young men started throwing stones at the soldiers, stationed in the permanent military roadblock at the entrance of the refugee camp.

Ra’ad Majed al-Bahri

October 18, 2019: Ra’ad Majed Mohammad al-Bahri, 25, was shot and killed by Israeli forces at Jabara military roadblock, south of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem, on Friday evening.

A correspondent with the Palestinian WAFA News Agency confirmed that a young man died after being shot by the Israeli forces at the roadblock after the soldiers shot him.

WAFA also reported that the young man was left to bleed to death when Israeli forces refused to allow the entry of ambulances of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to the roadblock.

The Israeli army claimed that the “man ran towards the military roadblock, intending to attack the soldiers.”

But a photo released by the military shows the body of Ra’ad lying on the street a wide distance from the checkpoint where the soldiers were stationed. The army also produced no evidence to back their claim that Ra’ad was a threat.

Nayfa Mohammad Ali Ka’abna

September 18, 2019: Nayfa Mohammad Ali Ka’abna, 50, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers at Qalandia checkpoint near Jerusalem.

|Update: September 25, 2020: More than a year after her death, Israeli soldiers transferred, on Friday evening, September 25, 2020, the corpse of a Palestinian mother back to her family in Jericho, in the West Bank.|

Israeli sources have confirmed that the wounded Palestinian woman, who was shot by the soldiers after an alleged stabbing attempt, later died from her injuries.

The slain Palestinian woman was later identified as Nayfa Mohammad Ali Ka’abna, 50, from Aqbat Jabr refugee camp, near Jericho in the West Bank.

After she was shot, she was left bleeding for a long time, before an Israeli ambulance moved her to Hadassah Israeli Medical Center in Jerusalem, where she succumbed to her wounds.

Israeli daily Haaretz has reported that the soldiers saw the woman and ordered her to stop, “but she did not heed to their commands, and pulled out a knife” before the soldiers shot her.

Following the incident, the soldiers closed the terminal and maced many Palestinians with pepper-spray while trying to remove them from the area.

A video filmed by a Palestinian bystander shows soldiers several meters away from the woman before one of them shot her, then a soldier approached her and kicked an object away from her.

The soldiers then closed the area and ordered the Palestinian cars away.

Israeli sources have confirmed that nobody else was injured in the incident and added that an army probe is underway.

Following the incident, the soldiers closed the terminal, and maced many Palestinians with pepper-spray while trying to remove them from the area.

Bassam al-Sayyeh

September 8th, 2019: Bassam al-Sayyeh, 47, died in an Israeli prison, due to medical negligence, according to the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission.

Al-Sayyeh, 47, was detained on August 10, 2015, he was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2011 and blood cancer in 2013.

The commission held the Israeli government fully responsible for the racist crimes committed against Palestinians, including the physical and psychological torture and medical negligence of prisoners, among other violations, calling for an investigation into these crimes.

His wife, a former political prisoner, identified as Mona Hayes, said that she has been barred from visiting him for the last two years.

She added that he started suffering from various serious health conditions four years ago and never received specialized medical care, and over the past year, Bassam suffered serious health issues, and was hospitalized in Israel hospitals, then to Ramla hospital.

His latest setback resulted in clinical death due to renal failure and Kidney failure, due to the lack of adequate and profession medical treatment.

The Palestine News Network (PNN) has reported that the detainee also”received chemotherapy by incompetent physicians and lost his life due to pulmonary edema, cirrhosis and cardiac failure.”

His lawyer tried to get Israeli courts to release him so that he can receive specialized medical care in Palestine or abroad, but all appeals were denied.

Former political prisoner, Khader Adnan from Arraba near the northern West Bank city of Jenin, who held extended hunger strike while in Israeli prisons and faced near death conditions, said the death of Sayeh requires real solidarity and action to expose the Israeli crimes against the detainees, and the seriously escalating violations, and warned that without such an action, this death will not be the last.

The death of al-Sayyeh brings the number of Palestinian prisoners who died in Israeli jails since 1967 to 221 prisoners.

At least 700 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails suffer from serious health conditions, 160 of whom are in need of urgent medical follow-up.

Palestinians have accused the Israeli authorities of failing to provide proper medical treatment, or of delaying treatment to ill prisoners, causing a deterioration in their health.

According to Addameer Prisoners Support and Human Rights organization, “in regard to adequate medical attention and treatment, Article 91 [of the Fourth Geneva Convention] emphasizes that “every place of internment shall have an adequate infirmary…” and that “Internees may not be prevented from presenting themselves to the medical authority for examination.”

In addition to this article, Article 92 asserts that “Medical inspections of internees shall be made at least once a month…”. It is evident that the withholding of treatment, or access to a medical professional, is a violation of these specific provisions, and therefore a violation of international humanitarian law.”

Ala Khader al-Hreimi

August 16, 2019: Ala Khader al-Hreimi, 26, was shot dead in a barrage of bullets fired by Israeli soldiers after the car he was driving hit a car driven by Israeli colonist settlers on the highway between Bethlehem and Hebron.

The Israeli army claimed the soldiers fired many live rounds at his car after he reportedly deliberately rammed two Israeli colonists near Etzion illegal colony. Israeli media sources said the Palestinian driver was “neutralized” following the vehicular collision.

The Palestinian Health Ministry and the District Civil Coordination Office reported that the Palestinian who was killed by Israeli soldiers near Etzion, south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, was identified as Ala Khader al-Hreimi, 26.

Ala, a construction worker, is a former political prisoner who was detained by Israel for two years and was previously shot by Israeli soldiers.

Following his death, the soldiers summoned his brother, Abdul-Salam al-Hreimi, for interrogation at Roadblock #300, south of Bethlehem.

Israeli sources said that two Israeli settlers were wounded in the vehicle collision, identified as Noam Navis, 19, who was moderately injured, and her brother, Nachum, 17, who suffered a serious head injury and has been hooked to a respirator, from Gush Etzion.

Israeli Ynetnews said “it remains unclear whether the incident was a deliberate attack, or a traffic accident,” and added that the driver was “neutralized.”

August 8, 2019: Dvir Sorek, 19, an off-duty Israeli soldier, was found stabbed to death on the side of the road near the Palestinian village of Beit Fajjar.

Israeli authorities announced Thursday morning that they had found Dvir’s body on the side of a road in the  south-central part of the West Bank, and believe he was the victim of an attack.

The perpetrators of the attack remain unknown, although Israeli authorities say they assume the attackers were Palestinian.

The nearest Palestinian village to the location where the body was found is Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem. Israeli forces stormed the village and put a complete closure on the area.

Dvir was a settler living illegally on stolen Palestinian land in the settlement of Ofra.

He was a student of the Jewish religion at a yeshiva (religious Jewish college) in the settlement where he lived. He was also an active duty Israeli soldier.

According to Israeli sources, Dvir had gone to Jerusalem to shop, but did not return home. His family reported him missing Wednesday night, and police began a search, finding his body about 2:30 am Thursday morning.

The Israeli military say their theory is that Sorek was pulled into a vehicle and killed, then dumped on the side of the road, and they presume that this was done by Palestinians.

An Israeli military spokesperson told the Israeli paper Ha’aretz that the military is “beginning to carry out steps on the working assumption that there is a terrorist cell in the area that carried out the attack.”

The Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated that the military is “in pursuit now in order to capture the despicable terrorist and bring him to justice.”

The military has closed off nearby Palestinian villages and invaded them, issuing an order for Palestinians to remain in their homes.

This comes on the eve of the major Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, when many Palestinian families were planning to visit family in different parts of the West Bank. The curfews and closures have forced the families to remain indoors, and are a type of collective punishment on the Palestinian population in the area.
