August 19th, 2020: Mohammad Damer Matar, 17, was killed by Israeli soldiers late on Wednesday night. The troops also injured at least two others, in Deir Abu Mashal town, west of Ramallah, in central West Bank. The corpse of the slain Palestinians remains in the hands of the Israeli army.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said it was informed that the teen Mohammad Damer Matar, 17, died from serious wounds he suffered after the soldiers shot him with live fire, on Wednesday at night, after the soldiers and undercover officers invaded the town.

The Palestinian teen was one of at least three who were shot by the soldiers, during protests that erupted after the army invaded their town.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said its medics provided the needed treatment to two Palestinians; one of them suffered a moderate-but-stable injury, and the second suffered mild wounds, before they were rushed to Palestine Medical Complex In Ramallah.

The Palestinian medics were never able to reach the slain Matar and provide him with the urgently-need treatment, as he was taken by the soldiers, and the family was officially informed of his death on Thursday morning.

The Israeli army claimed it observed Palestinian preparing Molotov cocktails to use them in attacks against military vehicles and settlers’ cars, before targeting the Palestinians with live fire.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates denounced the killing of the teen and held Benjamin Netanyahu along with his right-wing coalition partners fully responsible for killing Matar.

It added that the killing is yet another crime against the Palestinian civilians and a continuation of Israel’s field execution policies.

The Ministry also called for prosecuting Israel’s political and military officials in international courts.

Ashraf Hasan Atallah Halasa

August 17, 2020: Ashraf Hasan Atallah Halasa, 30, was killed by Israeli soldiers near Bad Hotta, one of the gates of the al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied East Jerusalem, reportedly after he attacked officers, wounding one.

On Monday at night, the soldiers also abducted Tareq and his brother, Atef Sbeitan, near the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The slain Palestinian was shot with at least three live rounds in the chest, one of them struck his heart, and was left on the ground without medical attention for about 90 minutes, while the soldiers “secured the area”, and the Israeli medics tended to the wounded officer.

The soldiers later abducted his mother, and two of his brothers, while crossing the “Container” military roadblock, near as-Sawahra ash-Sharqiya town, and summoned a few of his relatives for interrogation.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired a barrage of live rounds at the young man, inflicting serious wounds, before closing the area, and prevented Palestinian medics from approaching him.

One of the medics, identified as Emad Hijazi, of the Al-Amal Society For Medical Services, said that he and his colleagues were praying at the Al-Aqsa Mosque when they hear several shots nearby and rushed to the scene.

Hijazi added that the Israeli soldiers and police officers assaulted him and his colleagues, before forcibly removing them from the area.

The Palestinian eventually bled to death after being denied the urgently needed medical treatment, while Israeli medics tended to the wounded officer, 19, who sustained a moderate injury.

The wounded officer is a member of the Israeli “Border Police;” Israeli medics transferred him to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, for further treatment.

The intensity of Israeli fire also caused an injury to one Palestinian woman, who was walking nearby with her daughter.

The woman said that after hearing the shots, and after being injured, she looked around trying to find her daughter, but she was nowhere to be found, apparently managed to seek shelter.

The eyewitnesses stated that one of the Palestinian worshipers, who was leaving the Al-Aqsa Mosque, also tried to tend to the wounded Palestinian but the soldiers and officers removed him from the scene and prevented anybody from approaching him.

The soldiers and officers later opened the Chain Gate, also one of the gates of Al-Aqsa, and allowed the Palestinian worshipers to leave through it.

Earlier Monday, Israeli soldiers shot a Palestinian man with special needs at the Qalandia Terminal, north of occupied Jerusalem.

Eqb DarawshaAugust 15, 2020: Eqab Bashir Darawsha, 21, was killed on Saturday evening, August 15th, 2020, when a speeding Israel colonists’ car struck him near a military roadblock, south of Tulkarem, in the northern West Bank.

Media sources said the Palestinian, a day laborer, had crossed through a breach in the illegal Israeli Annexation Wall, as he and many other workers were trying to get into Israel for work.

Many Palestinian workers take the risk of going through a gap in the Annexation wall, or sneaking into Israel through mountains and hills, because they are suffering from hunger, and feel they need to take the risk of crossing the Israeli-created barrier  to provide for their families. They may have applied for and been denied entry permits  by the Israeli military that controls all aspects of their lives in the West Bank.

Israeli settlers who drive on bypass roads, including the one who struck the Palestinian worker, usually drive at high speeds when driving on the Jewish-only segregated bypass roads.

After being struck by the car, the Palestinian was rushed to Rama Medical Center in Israel, where he succumbed to his wounds.

A Palestinian who lives near where the incident took place stated that the Palestinian went through a gap in the Annexation Wall, and was struck by the speeding Israeli car just as he was trying to cross the road.

One day after the incident, Israeli soldiers shot and injured Palestinian workers near the gate of the Annexation Wall, west of Far’un town, south of Tulkarem.

In that incident, a Palestinian, Soheil Daoud ‘Obeit, 26, was shot in his leg before Palestinian medics rushed him to a local hospital.

Such incidents are frequent and have led to many Palestinian casualties.

August 7, 2020: Dalia Ahmad Suleiman Sammoudi, 23, a mother of two children, including a newborn, was shot and killed in her home by Israeli soldiers during an invasion of the city of Jenin in the early morning hours.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Friday at dawn, the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and fired many live rounds, gas bombs and concussion grenades at Palestinians protesting the invasion, and killed Dalia with live rounds while she was in her home.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that the woman was shot in the chest, before she was rushed to surgery at a hospital in Jenin, but succumbed to her serious wounds.

The Ministry added that the Israeli bullets damaged the woman’s liver, pancreas, and the Aorta, or main artery, inflicting serious wounds that led to her death despite all attempts to save her life.

She has been identified as Dalia Ahmad Suleiman Sammoudi, 34, a mother of two children, including a newborn, and the wife of the Imam of the Abdullah Azzam Mosque in Jenin refugee camp.

The protests in the neighborhood started when the soldiers invaded the home of a former political prisoner, identified as Khaled Suleiman Abu Hasan, and interrogated him while ransacking the property.

Many youngsters started hurling stones at the invading soldiers and their army vehicles, and the military fired a barrage of live rounds at random, in addition to dozens of gas bombs and concussion grenades. Many Palestinians suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

The Israeli army tried to justify the excessive use of force by claiming that some Palestinians fired live bullets at the soldiers, but the locals denied the allegation and confirmed that the protesters had no weapons, and only hurled stones and empty bottles at the invading army jeeps.

The occupation army also claimed that it “entered” Jenin overnight to conduct arrests, and that the soldiers “only fired sponge-tipped bullets and teargas to disperse the protesters.”

The family of the slain woman said she woke up to feed her hungry newborn, and tried to close a window to prevent the tear-gas from seeping into her home, before she was shot with a live round in the chest.

A Palestinian ambulance rushed to the scene, but the soldiers fired several live rounds at it, delaying its arrival at the home of the seriously wounded woman.

On Friday evening, hundreds of Palestinians participated in the funeral procession of the slain mother, starting in front of Khalil Suleiman Governmental hospital, heading to her home in the al-Jabriyyat area in Jenin city, before holding the funeral ceremony at the local mosque, and then buried her body in the graveyard of Jenin refugee camp.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli soldiers also directly targeted a Palestinian ambulance of the Red Crescent Society with live fire; one of the bullets went through the ambulance, right between legs of one of the medics and exited from the other side.

Ahmad Mustafa Erekat

June 23, 2020: Ahmad Mustafa Erekat, 26, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers at the “Container” military roadblock, northeast of Bethlehem, while he was preparing for his sister’s wedding that was scheduled to take place later that day.

The soldiers claimed that Ahmad ‘tried to ram them with his car’ – a claim that his family says is beyond ridiculous.

The head of Abu Dis Town Council, Ahmad Abu Hilal, said the soldiers shot Ahmad with multiple rounds, and left him to bleed to death, before taking his corpse away.

Abu Hilal added that Ahmad was driving to Bethlehem city to fetch his sisters and his mother from a hairdressing shop in Bethlehem, as the family was preparing for the wedding of one of his sisters, which was supposed to take place on the same day, Tuesday, June 23 2019.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers at the permanent military roadblock closed the area, and prevented Red Crescent medics from approaching the young man, in addition to firing many gas bombs at Palestinian cars and residents to force them away.

The Israeli army alleged that the young man “accelerated towards the roadblock, and attempted to ram a female soldier with his car,” and added that the soldier reportedly suffered mild wounds before she was moved to a hospital in Jerusalem.

The spokesperson of the Israel police, Micky Rosenfeld, claimed that “after trying to ram the soldiers, the young man got out of his vehicle, and approached them before they shot him.”

The family denied the military allegations and said the soldiers rushed to shoot Ahmad without any justification, and added that they believe their slain son must have lost control over his car.

“As we have seen in previous similar incidents, the soldiers were quick to open deadly fire,” his family said, “Our son would never have tried to deliberately ram soldiers, or anybody else, especially on the day of his sister’s wedding!”

They added that they intend to hire a lawyer to demand Israel to release his corpse for burial.

Palestinian journalist Christine Rimawi said that the slain Palestinian was a Facebook friend and that he himself was preparing to get married soon.

“Today’s victim, Ahmad Mustafa Erekat, 27, was executed by the soldiers at the Container roadblock, and the army was ready with its familiar allegation of attempted ramming attack, Christine stated, “But the truth is that he was just going to Bethlehem to fetch his mother and sisters from a hairdressing salon when the soldiers shot him and left him to bleed to death,” she added.

“He was getting ready for the celebration, for his sister’s wedding! He was shot and killed instead! Can you imagine what this wedding has turned into?! Not only that today is his sister’s wedding. His own wedding was supposed to take place soon!”

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement strongly denouncing the escalating Israeli violations and the “cold-blooded murder of Ahmad at the racist deathtrap roadblocks.”

“This crime is part of Israel’s ongoing policies; this illegal authority of the Israeli occupation continues to commit crimes against our people, including field executions, and extrajudicial assassinations,” the Ministry stated, “All of these policies and crimes, committed by the police, the army, and the paramilitary colonialist settlers, are targeting the Palestinian civilians, their homes and lands, and are aimed at trying to force us out of our ancestral lands.”

The Ministry also stated that it will file a complaint with the United Nations, and all its related institutions, as part of its constant efforts to document the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, including the murder of Ahmad Erekat.

It called on the International Community, the United Nations, and the Security Council, to act on providing immediate protection to the Palestinian people, living under the illegal Israeli military occupation, and to implement the basics of International Law.

“Our people urgently need protection, the International Community; the United Nations must act and end these escalating Israeli crimes,” it added, “The criminal Israeli occupation of Palestine continues to target innocent civilians. Silence is complicity!”

Eyad al-Hallaq

May 30, 2020: Eyad al-Hallaq, 32, an unarmed, autistic Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli police in Jerusalem. The police then left him lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds for over an hour until he bled to death.

Eyad was killed when the soldiers shot him with eight live rounds at the stairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Jerusalem, while he was walking to the al-Bakriyyah School for persons with special needs.

The police who killed Hallak claimed that they thought he had a suspicious object in his hand. But Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirmed to reporters that no weapon was found.

Eyewitnesses said Eyad was just walking when the soldiers started shouting at him, and he got scared by their loud voices and tried to run away.

They added that the soldiers could have easily arrested him, without resorting to the lethal and excessive use of live fire.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated that the killing of Hallaq was “a real crime”, and that “those who committed it must be brought to justice, and be convicted by the International Criminal Court”. He stated that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be held fully responsible for the killing.

Following the Israeli police shooting, protests erupted in the city of Jerusalem. Israeli police closed all the gates leading into Jerusalem’s old city, banning all entry and exit.

The mother of the Palestinian who was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers in occupied Jerusalem, said that the Israeli allegations and justifications for his brutal murder are mere lies, as the slain man was autistic, and was a child in a man’s body.

The mother was walking aimlessly around her home in Wadi al-Jouz in Jerusalem, looking lost, and unable to grasp the news about the death of her only son.

Minutes after the news about his death started spreading, she was informed that he was alive and was only shot in his leg near Bas al-Asbat in Jerusalem, but shortly afterwards it became clear that he was killed by the soldiers.

His father, Khairi al-Hallaq, shocked and in disbelief, was sitting in his home, surrounded by several young men who knew the slain Palestinian and rushed to his home, could not utter many words, except prayers and mumblings that only echoed “he was killed in cold blood, he was murdered…”

His slain autistic son, he said, may have looked like a grown man, but his brain was that of a child, who didn’t interact with anybody, and who only left home to go to the special needs school.

“Why would they kill him in cold blood like this,” he said, “They claim that they thought he carried a weapon! Why didn’t they search him, why did they have to kill him without even making sure he was carrying the claimed weapon”.

He added that his slain son started going to the special needs school around six years ago, and that he goes there every day from the morning until evening, and when he returns home, he just sits alone in his room.

His weeping mother, distraught and unable to catch a normal breath, said, “Why didn’t they just capture him… why not search him… why did they have to rush to fatal shots, to killing him in a cold-blooded manner like this.”

“He was murdered in cold-blood, he carried nothing but his mobile phone and his wallet”, she added, “He carried no weapons, he wanted to go to school because he felt bored at home, but at school he could be more active, and interact with others….”.

“Right now, after they killed him like this, my only wish is that we can have the burial ceremonies at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, before he is buried in the soil of Jerusalem,” she added, “He was an innocent person, he hated nobody, and what they did to him is a crime not only against him, but also against every person with special needs. They killed my only son, who was a child in a man’s body. They killed my only son, they killed my only son…”

Attorney Eyad al-Qadamani, who is representing the family, said that the Israeli police is investigating the fatal shooting, and so far, the police is not admitting he was killed by mistake, and are unwilling to transfer his corpse back to his family for burial.

The lawyer added that the Israeli police imposed a gag order, forbidding the release of the names of the officers involved in his death, or even any information about the units they belong to.

The imposed gag order will remain in effect until June 3rd and could possibly be extended for a longer period.

Israeli media outlets said the slain young man did not carry any weapon, and that he was shot just because “he failed to stop when was ordered to.”

The police claimed that they noticed he carried a “suspicious object”, and that they though it was a gun, and added that he was ordered to stop, but he started running and a chase ensued.

Israeli daily Haaretz said the Palestinian was unarmed, and that the officer who shot him said “he suspected al-Hallaq was a terrorist because he was wearing gloves.”

Haaretz quoted a statement by the Israeli police claiming that “two officers noticed the Palestinian carrying a suspicious object that they thought was a gun and ordered him to stop. After the man refused and started fleeing the scene, the officers started chasing him on foot and opened fire, ultimately killing him while he was trying to hide behind a dumpster.”

It added that the police then closed on the Old City, and that the Police Internal Investigations Department will be investigating the incident.

Haaretz also said that the two officers who were involved in chasing him and then the fatal shots, were questioned by the police, before one of them was released “under restrictive conditions”, and the second officer was placed under “house arrest.”

The Israeli media agency also quoted source which was described to be “familiar with the investigation”, the junior officer, who was a recruit armed with M16 automatic rifle, is being suspected of “continuing to shoot despite being ordered by his commander to stop.”

Haaretz added that the officer “continued to shoot because he saw al-Hallaq was still moving”, and that a court in Jerusalem issued a gag order preventing the release of the names of the officers involved in the fatal incident.

The police also raided Hallaq’s home in Wad el-Joz and questioned his family. Khairi Hallaq, the father of the deceased, told reporters “They found nothing”, and noting that police had cursed his daughter when she became upset at them.

Rana Hallaq, the mother of the deceased, told Israeli Channel 12 that her son “was killed in cold blood”. On social media, many drew comparisons between the shooting and the ongoing police violence in the U.S.

According to Israeli Channel 12 news, members of Israel’s paramilitary border police fired at Halak’s legs and chased him into a dead-end alley.

The Israeli channel reported that a senior officer ordered a halt in fire as they entered the alley, but that a second officer did not listen and fired six or seven bullets from an M-16 rifle. They claimed that both officers were taken into custody and then released.

Zeid Fadel Qaisiyya

May 13th, 2020: Zeid Fadel Qaisiyya, 15, was killed with a bullet to the head by Israeli soldiers during an invasion of Zeid’s neighborhood in the al-Fawwar refugee camp, southwest of the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

Media sources said dozens of soldiers invaded the refugee camp, and attacked local youngsters, who protested the invasion into their alley and neighborhoods.

They added that the soldiers fired many live rounds at the unarmed protesters, and at random, in addition to rubber-coated steel bullets and gas bombs. In addition to Zeid, four others were injured.

His mother stated that her son was not taking part of any protest, and added that he, his brother, and some of his cousins, went to the rooftop of the house after hearing what sounded like concussion grenades, but that is when he was shot.

His brother, after seeing him collapse on the ground, thought he was joking, but when he checked on Zeid, he found the blood on his face, as the bullet struck him in the face and exited from the back of his head.

The family lived in a five-story building, and Zeid was on the rooftop along with his cousins to watch the unfolding invasion.

His brother Jihad, who was standing next to him when Zeid was shot, said that they just went to the rooftop to see what was happening when a soldier targeted them.

Jihad added that he and his slain brother were not part of any protests that took place when the soldiers invaded the refugee camp. “We were just on the rooftop, watching when the soldiers fired the shot, ” he said.

Medical sources in Hebron said the soldiers killed a child, identified as Zeid Fadel Qaisiyya, 15, after shooting him with a live round in the head.

They added that the soldiers also shot four other Palestinians with live fire; two of them were shot in the chest and abdomen, and two in their lower extremities.

Nour Jaber Barghouthi

April 22, 2020: Nour Jaber Barghouthi, 23, died in the Negev Desert Detention Camp, after he fainted in the shower, and Israeli soldiers failed to provide him with any medical aid for more than thirty minutes.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society stated that the detainee, Nour Jaber Barghouthi, 23, was from ‘Aboud town, northwest of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and added that he was abducted by the soldiers four years ago, and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

It stated that the detainee was showering in Section 25 of the Negev Detention camp when he collapsed and lost consciousness.

The PPS held Israel fully responsible for the death of the detainee and denounced its deadly neglect of basic, internationally guaranteed rights of the detainees in direct violation of all related International laws, and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

On his part, the head of the Palestinian Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees Committee, Qadri Abu Bakr, said that Israel continues to abuse the detainees, violate their basic rights, in addition to its constant use of torture during interrogation, and the continuous invasions and violent searches of the detainees’ rooms.

Abu Bakr added that the detainees are also denied professional medical attention in Israeli prisons, especially those suffering from cancer, diabetes, kidney failure, and other serious health conditions.

Barghouthi’s death brings the number of Palestinian detainees who died in Israeli prisons since the year 1967 after Israel occupied the rest of Palestine, including East Jerusalem, to 273.

Israel is also still holding the remains of five deceased detainees, identified as Anis Doula, who died of medical neglect in the year 1980, Aziz Oweisat, 53, who died on May 20, 2018, at an Israeli hospital from serious complications after he was assaulted by several Israeli soldiers in the prison, Fares Baroud, 51, who died on February 6, 2019, of medical neglect in an Israeli prison, Nassar Taqatqa, 31, who died after having been tortured in an Israeli prison on July 16, 2019, and Bassam Sayeh, 47, who died on September 8, 2019, in an Israeli prison, due to medical neglect.

It is worth mentioning that 73 of the detainees who died in Israeli prisons since 1967 were tortured to death, 67 died after not receiving the needed medical treatment, 75 were shot to death after being captured, and seven were killed by Israeli army fire while in prison.

Tariq Lu’ay Badwan

February 6, 2020: Tariq Lu’ay Badwan, aged 24, succumbed to injuries sustained by Israeli gunfire during confrontations that erupted in Jenin, on Thursday.

Sgt. Badwan, was a Palestinian police officer from Qalqilia. He died after he was shot and injured by Israeli occupation forces while working at the special police headquarters in Jenin.

Badwan was shot by Israeli soldiers while he was standing near the door inside a police station in Jenin.

Badwan was shot in the stomach and then transferred to the Khalil Suleiman Governmental Hospital, and then to Al-Razi Hospital, due to the seriousness of his condition.

The sergeant underwent a surgery that lasted for several hours, with the participation of 5 doctors who administered 30 units of blood, but were powerless to save his life.

Badwan’s death follows that of Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, aged 16, who was killed at dawn while 6 others were wounded in Jenin. Israeli forces also shot dead  Muhammad Salman Al-Haddad , 17,  at the Bab al-Zawiya area of Hebron city.

Yazan was killed Thursday morning when the Israeli military invaded Jenin city and started the demolition of a home belonging to the family of a political prisoner. An additional six Palestinians were wounded with live ammunition.

The six other wounded Palestinians, who were all shot with live fire, have been identified as Majd Azmi, Mohammad Hussein Zeidan, Jamal Mohammad Ghanem, Zein Zeid, Odai Ayman Mer’ery, and Hani Ata Abu Rmeila. All were moved to the al-Razi hospital.

The fatal shooting and the injuries took place during protests that erupted when more than 30 Israeli military vehicles, including bulldozers, invaded Jenin and demolished the home of a political prisoner, identified as Ahmad Abu al-Qombo’, for the second time.

It is worth mentioning that, on April 24th 2019, the Israeli army invaded Jenin and demolished Ahmad’s family home, after accusing him of involvement in a shooting attack that took place near Nablus, leading to the death of an Israeli settler, identified as Rabbi Raziel Shevach, near Nablus.

After being demolished the first time, the home was rebuilt through local society donations and support, however, on January 12th, the Israeli army decided to destroy the property again.

On February 06, 2018, the soldiers killed Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22, in the al-Yamoun, near Jenin, on suspicion of involvement in the fatal shooting.

Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh

February 5, 2020: Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, 19, was one of two Palestinians killed Thursday morning when the Israeli military invaded Jenin city and started the demolition of a home belonging to the family of a political prisoner. An additional six Palestinians were wounded with live ammunition.

Media sources said the soldiers shot Yazan Monther Abu Tabeekh, 19, with two live rounds in the chest, causing very serious wounds before he was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

They added that the soldiers also injured at least seven other Palestinians, including two who sustained life-threatening wounds, and caused many to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation.

The other Palestinian killed was a police officer, identified as Lu’ay Ahmad Badwan, 25, from Azzoun town, who was shot by a live Israeli army round in the upper body and died of his wounds hours later. The bullet apparently struck his spine before he was rushed into surgery at the al-Razi hospital, in Jenin city.

Badwan was shot by Israeli soldiers while he was standing near the door inside a police station in Jenin.

The six other wounded Palestinians, who were all shot with live fire, have been identified as Majd Azmi, Mohammad Hussein Zeidan, Jamal Mohammad Ghanem, Zein Zeid, Odai Ayman Mer’ery, and Hani Ata Abu Rmeila. All were moved to the al-Razi hospital.

The fatal shooting and the injuries took place during protests that erupted when more than 30 Israeli military vehicles, including bulldozers, invaded Jenin and demolished the home of a political prisoner, identified as Ahmad Abu al-Qombo’, for the second time.

It is worth mentioning that, on April 24th 2019, the Israeli army invaded Jenin and demolished Ahmad’s family home, after accusing him of involvement in a shooting attack that took place near Nablus, leading to the death of an Israeli settler, identified as Rabbi Raziel Shevach, near Nablus.

After being demolished the first time, the home was rebuilt through local society donations and support, however, on January 12th, the Israeli army decided to destroy the property again.

On February 06, 2018, the soldiers killed Ahmad Nasr Jarrar, 22, in the al-Yamoun, near Jenin, on suspicion of involvement in the fatal shooting.
