Shay Silas Nigreker

ShayAugust 19, 2023: Shay Silas Nigreker, 60, was shot and killed, along with his son, Aviad Nir, 28, by an unknown perpetrator at a car wash in the West Bank.

The two men were residents of Ashdod, south of Tel Aviv, in the southern part of Israel. They had apparently been visiting a friend in an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank, and were returning back to Ashdod when they stopped at a car wash in the northern West Bank town of Huwara, south of Nablus.

Media sources said that an unknown assailant opened fire, critically injuring the Israeli man and his son. The shooter then fled on foot.

According to Palestinian sources, Israeli officials initially thought that the victims were Palestinian and did not send an ambulance for thirty minutes.

During that time, a Palestinian ambulance with the Red Crescent emergency response service arrived on the scene and tried to treat the two wounded men. After 30 minutes, an Israeli ambulance with the Magen David Adom ambulance service arrived and took over the resuscitation efforts, which were unsuccessful.

According to the Israeli army’s preliminary investigation, the shooter approached the men on foot, and fired from close range with a handgun.

The Israeli occupation army, in its continued search for the perpetrator, closed several military roadblocks in the vicinity of Nablus and the town of Huwara, tightening its inspection procedures, causing severe traffic crises.

The military arrested the owner of the car wash where the attack took place, although there is no indication that he was involved in any way. The army has not identified the perpetrator of Saturday’s shooting, but they locked down all of the nearby villages and towns and have installed additional checkpoints and raided homes and cars in the area.

On Saturday night, following the daytime shooting attack, Israeli colonial settlers rampaged in the town of Huwara, throwing rocks at Palestinian pedestrians and vehicles and setting fires, in a scene that brought back memories of the Israeli settler riots in February, in which hundreds of Palestinian homes and cars were burned by Israeli paramilitary settlers. During the February riots, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that he wanted Huwara to be ‘wiped off the map’, saying it was a ‘hotbed for terrorists’.

In the pre-dawn hours on Sunday morning, Israeli forces stationed in Huwara shot and wounded a masked Israeli paramilitary settler who had been throwing objects at vehicles on Route 60 – a road traveled by both Israeli colonial settlers and indigenous Palestinians.

Ala’ Khalil Qaisiyya

May 26, 2023: Ala’ Khalil Qaisiyya, 26, was killed by an Israeli guard in an illegal colony near Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli reports said a security team member shot the Palestinian, who has reportedly infiltrated a colony and was“heading to a synagogue in Teneh Omarim colony, where holiday prayers were taking place,” and added that “the guard shot him at the entrance of the building.”

According to Ynet News, the Palestinian was shot in “an attempted stabbing attack,” adding that the security guard shot him allegedly when he was “wielding his knife.” No Israelis were injured in the reported incident.

The report only indicated that the Palestinian was “neutralized,” a term various Israeli medical outlets use without providing further details, especially whether the person was killed or just ‘idled.’

Immediately after the incident, the Israeli army instructed the colonizers to remain indoors until further notice and prevented vehicles from entering or leaving the colony.

The Palestinian is the cousin of Sa’ad Mahmoud Qaisiyya, 25, who a paramilitary colonizer killed, on March 1, 2017, in the same colony.

There are 22 illegal Israeli colonies, fifteen outposts, and four’ industrial colonies’ on stolen Palestinian lands in Hebron, where about 21.000 colonizers reside.

The army also has 20 permanent military roadblocks in Hebron, resulting in constant closure and the isolation of many neighborhoods and communities.

Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”

Diar Omari

May 06, 2023: Diar Omari, 20, a Palestinian resident of the village of Sandala, part of the Gilboa Regional Council in northern Israel, was shot and killed by an Israeli paramilitary colonial settler from the nearby Israeli colony Gan Ner.

The victim was identified as Diar Omari, 20, a Palestinian-Israeli citizen from Sandala, not far from Affula in the Northern District. He leaves behind two sisters and his parents.

According to local sources, Amri was critically wounded by multiple gunshots and was taken to HaEmek Medical Center in Afula, where he was declared dead.

Israeli police said it arrested a 32-year-old Israeli man suspected of being the shooter.

The Israeli gunman is a reserve soldier with the Golani Brigade of the Israeli army and was discharged just a few days ago.

He was not named, but the police said he had a handgun, suspected of being the gun used to shoot Omari.

The attack took place after a traffic incident; both men had been driving cars but got out, and the Israeli man got out his gun and began shooting at the Palestinian, fatally wounding him.

One of Diyar’s relatives told the Arabs48 News website said the whole issue started after a simple traffic incident before the two argued and the Diyar started walking to his car to leave the area and avoid further tension, but the Israeli shot him without justification since it was clear he was not in any danger.

A video released on social media showed the two men arguing, and then the Israeli human pulled out a gun and opened fire at Diar.

The incident could have ended without a fatality if the Israeli gunman did not use his weapon not only to shoot the young man but to inflict fatal wounds, especially since he fired several rounds at him.

Following the shooting, protests began in the village of Sandala. Israeli police deployed into the village, assaulted many Palestinians who protests the young man’s murder, and detained three.

The Israeli police did not reveal sufficient information but said the Israeli who fatally shot Omari claimed: “he killed him in self-defense after feeling his life was in danger,” and added that the officers took the gun he used in the shooting.

The police also detained two persons who allegedly hurled stones at Israeli cars while protesting the young man’s death and called on the Israelis Gan Ner settlement, south of Affula, to remain in their colony until the situation calms down.

Mithqal Suleiman Rayan

February 11, 2023: Mithqal Suleiman Abdel Halim Rayan, 27, was shot and killed on Saturday evening, by Israeli paramilitary invaders, in the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan, west of Salfit.

The mayor of Qarawat Bani Hassan, Ibrahim Asi, told the Palestinian Ma’an News Agency, “The young man was killed by a live bullet fired by an armed and angry settler towards a group of young men in the village.” He confirmed that the armed, paramilitary colonial settlers were guarded by the Israeli occupation forces as they carried out their assassination of the unarmed Palestinian civilian.

Mithqal Rayan was the father of three young children: a 4-year-old boy, a two-year-old son, and a baby girl.

Israeli colonizers have targeted the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan, west of Salfit, for their colony expansion. They have been forcibly expelling Palestinian landowners and taking over their land – claiming that their ancestors once lived there 2,000 years ago, so they have the right to take the land from its owners by force. Most of these paramilitary Israeli settlers come from Europe, the US and the former Soviet Union, with no direct or indirect ancestral ties to the land of Palestine.

Earlier on Saturday, Israeli colonial settlers uprooted dozens of Palestinian olive trees, and destroyed an agricultural building, as part of their forced takeover of Palestinian land in Qarawat Bani Hassan.

Israeli forces have been helping the Israeli paramilitary settlers in their forced takeover of Palestinian village land- last week, the soldiers uprooted an olive grove, and in January the army demolished a Palestinian home located in the area that the Israeli colonizers have targeted to take over.

He added that the area where they parked was open, away from traffic, and visible to incoming vehicles, but the colonizer, contrary to Israeli army allegations, deliberately went out of his way to ram them with his speeding car before fleeing the scene.

“I saw what happened; it wasn’t a traffic accident, Ahmad added, “the colonizer saw us, went out of his way to ram us with his car, and sped away…” he said.

Their cousin, Emad Mteir, said Mohammad was instantly killed after the colonizer rammed him with his car, and his body was moved to a hospital in Nablus, while Mohannad succumbed to his serious wounds at an Israeli medical center. Three other family members were injured.

The corpses of the two slain siblings were moved to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah before a Palestinian ambulance took them to their homes in Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, and later, hundreds of Palestinians participated in their funeral ceremonies and burial procession.
