May 17, 2021: Husam Abu Harbeed, 36, killed by an Israeli missile in his home near Abu Haseera Junction, Gaza city.

The Israeli army fired at night and during the day hundreds of missiles, and shells into many parts of the Gaza Strip, hitting many buildings, public facilities, roads, and infrastructure, in addition to many homes, residential and commercial towers, killing dozens of Palestinians and injuring more.

Some of the Palestinians who were killed on that day have been identified as:

1. Ahmad Khalil al-Louh, 32, killed by drone missiles, Sabra neighborhood – Gaza city.
2. Ziad Abu Dayer, killed in his home in the Shawwa Building, al-Wihda – Gaza city.
3. Rafif Ziad Abu Dyar, 11, killed in his home in the Shawwa Building, al-Wihda – Gaza city.
4. Ziad Abu Dyar, (Rafif’s father).
5. Mohammad Nazeer Abu al-‘Oun, 18, Beit Lahia.
6. Ahmad Ziyad Hussein Sabbah, 28 – Beit Lahia
7. Mohammad Husam Abu Sam’aan, assassinated in a car in Tal al-Hawa – Gaza.
8. Mohammad Jamal Abu Samaan, 27, assassinated in a car in Tal al-Hawa – Gaza.
9. Ali Waleed Breis, 31, assassinated in a car in Tal al-Hawa – Gaza.
10. Husam Abu Harbeed, killed by an Israeli missile in his home near Abu Haseera Junction, Gaza city.
11. Yahia Mansour Ghaben, 22, died of serious wounds suffered three days earlier west of Beit Hanoun when Israeli soldiers fired artillery shells at farmers near the American Hospital in northern Gaza.
12. Ahmad Fayez Arafat was killed by missile from Israeli drone in Abasan – Khan Younis.
13. Yousef Rafiq al-Baz, 13, was killed, his brother, Ramadan, 16, was wounded.

Medical sources said another Palestinian, identified as Yahia Mansour Ghaben, died from serious wounds he suffered, two days ago, during the extensive Israeli bombing of Beit Lahia.

At least one Palestinian from the Abu Jalhoum family was killed, and many others were injured by Israeli missiles, west of the al-Amoudi area, in northern Gaza.

In Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Palestinians, east of the city, killing one, identified as Ahmad Arafat, and wounding several others.

The army also fired missiles into the Tal Za’tar neighborhood, in northern Gaza, killing at least one Palestinian and wounding several others.

In Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, the army fired artillery shells at homes and streets, killing many Palestinians, including children, in addition to killing Aa’ed Masoud, 24, in the al-Qasayeb neighborhood in Jabalia, in northern Gaza.

In Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, the soldiers bombarded a home for the al-Masri family, wounding at least five Palestinians, including four children, in addition to causing a severe injury to one Palestinian in Wadi as-Salqa area, south of Deir al-Balah.

The army targeted infrastructure, residential and commercial towers including those used by Palestinian and international media agencies, medical centers, many schools, and mosques, in addition to various buildings along the Gaza Strip.

On Monday evening, a child was killed, and dozens were injured, after the army fired missiles at a residential tower in the al-Wehda Street, in Gaza city.

The army also fired a missile at a residential tower in the Remal neighborhood in Gaza, killing one child and wounding more than 10 Palestinians. The attack caused severe damage to the building and nearby colic, wounding many patients.

It took place just a few meters away from where the army killing more than 40 Palestinians, and injuring dozens, on Sunday at dawn.

Before the latest Israeli escalation, the Health Ministry in Gaza said Israeli missiles and shells have led to the death of 212 Palestinians, including sixty-one children, thirty-six women, and sixteen elderlies, in addition to wounding more than 1400, including dozens of women and children, many of them in serious conditions.

Many Palestinians remain buried under the rubble of bombarded homes, residential towers, and other facilities, and are presumed dead, amidst constant efforts to locate them in the hope of finding some who are still alive.

May 17, 2021: ‘Ali Waleed al-‘Abed Burais, 30, by Israeli missiles that struck the Maldives Café at Gaza seaside.

Three other Palestinians were killed in the same attack, and many were injured.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said the Israeli missiles killed Ali along with Mohammed Jamal Abu Sam’an, 24, Mohammed Hasan Abu Sam’an,  32, and Ahmed Khalil Hejazi al-Louh, 24.

The bodies of the slain Palestinains were severely mutilated, torn into pieces.

Ali was a member of the Palestinian Military Police in Gaza.

The PCHS said for the ninth consecutive day, Israeli forces continued their offensive on the Gaza Strip, during which, Israeli warplanes launched dozens of intense airstrikes, along with artillery and gunboats shelling.

As a result, more houses and civilian facilities were targeted. Moreover, the only Covid-19 laboratory is no longer able to carry out tests due to an Israeli airstrike near the Headquarter of the Ministry of Health and al-Rimal Clinic. The violent artillery shelling also continued, forcing more residents to leave.

It added that the death toll since the beginning of the Israeli offensive has risen to 213, including sixty-one children and thirty-five women, and the number of those wounded has risen to 958, including 291children and 206 women.

According to the daily update by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the total number of injuries has risen to 1440, including four hundred children and 270 women. Among those injuries, fifty were critical and 340 ranged between serious and moderate.

May 17, 2021: Zeyad Kamel Abu Dayer, 55, was killed by Israeli missiles that struck his home in the Shawwa building in Gaza city.

His daughter, Rafif, 11, was also killed in the attack, while dozens of Palestinains have been injured.

In addition, the army assassinated a senior political leader of the Islamic Jihad, identified as Husam Abu Harbeed, after firing a missile at his home near Abu Haseera Junction, west of Gaza city, in addition to killing two other Palestinian, and wounding three, after firing a missile at their car in the same area.

May 16, 2021: Tawfiq Ismael Hussein Abu al-Auf, 75, was killed was killed by Israeli missiles in the al-Wehda Street, in Gaza city.

The missile strikes killed thirteen members of the al-Qulaq family, ranging in age from 1 to 85, as they huddled in their homes in terror while the Israeli airstrikes continued throughout the night. Local Palestinians have reported hearing as many as 150 Israeli bombs during the night.

One of the families wiped out by an Israeli missile Sunday morning was that of Riyad Hasan IshKinatna, who was pulled out of the rubble Sunday morning by rescue crews, barely alive, only to be told when he reached the hospital that his wife and five children were all killed in the Israeli attack.

Also killed in the barrage of airstrikes on al-Wihda Street was Dr. Mo’in Ahmad al-Aloul, a neurologist and brain specialist.

The Health Ministry in Gaza have identified the confirmed names of slain Palestinians as:

The Palestinian Center For Human Rights (PCHR) said that medical and Civil Defense crews pulled out thirteen dead bodies, including three women and seven children, from under the rubble of their houses on al-Wehda Street, raising the number of deaths to forty-three, most of them were children and women.

It said that slain Palestinians has been identified as Subhiya Isma’el Hussain Abu al-Ouf, 73, Ameen Mohammed Hamad al-Qolaq, 90, Tawfiq Isma’el Hussain Abu al-Ouf, 80, and his wife, Majdiya Khalil Hussain Abu al-Ouf, 82, Raja’ Subhi Isma’el al-Ifranji “Abu al-Ouf and  3 of her children, Mira Rami Riyad al-Ifranji, 12, Yazan, 13, Ameer, 9, and Hala Mohammed Mo’een al-Qolaq, 13, and her sister, Yara, 10, Rola, 6, and Lana, 4, Riyad Hasan Shkontana, and Mohammed Ahmed Musbah Ikki, 40.

The PCHR said, for the eighth consecutive day, the Israeli army continued the offensive on the Gaza Strip, in violation of the basic principles of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL): necessity, proportionality and distinction.

Tens of Israeli warplanes carried out dozens of intense airstrikes, along with artillery and gunboat shelling. The airstrikes targeted more houses and civilian facilities and intensified the destruction of roads and infrastructure, inflicting more casualties among Palestinian civilians and causing extensive damage to their properties. 

It added that the Israeli army declared that the third phase of the military operation on the Gaza Strip has started and that fifty-four warplanes fired 110 missiles attacked thirty-five targets within 20 minutes, including fifteen kilometer-tunnels; according to IOF’s claims, while the facts on the ground indicate that the airstrikes targeted more houses, facilities, and streets.

The power outage crisis in the Gaza Strip aggravated as the electricity supply dropped to three to four hours a day that is inadequate for the vital facilities to provide services to the people of the Gaza Strip.

The Electricity Company stated that the components of the electricity distribution network sustained massive destruction as five main electric power transmission lines, which supply sixty megawatts, broke down since the beginning of the offensive while the rest lines break down from time to time and become out of service due to the airstrikes and destruction of many places.

The power plant warned that it would be forced to shut down this evening due to insufficient fuel supply. The Power Generating Company announced that “J4” electric power transmission line, which supplies Gaza City and passes through Street 8 and Street 10, sustained severe damage due to the intense airstrikes on the area.  As a result, the electricity went off on vacant areas in the city.

The forced displacement of tens of thousands of residents from their houses in eastern Gaza Strip continued due to the violent artillery shelling as shelters were opened to receive them without so far providing adequate circumstances. Also, almost all aspects of daily life have been disrupted due to the non-stop airstrikes.

Further to PCHR’s press release published yesterday, Israeli warplanes carried out hundreds of airstrikes while the Israeli gunboats and artillery shelled various and indiscriminate targets across the Gaza Strip.

As a result, 23 Palestinians, including three women and seven children, while fifty-three others, including eight women and eighteen children, were injured.

Additionally, the airstrikes targeted twenty-one houses, several facilities, governmental headquarters, and infrastructure on a wide scale. Thus, the number of targeted houses has risen to 115, including multi-story buildings and several towers.

Moreover, the death toll since the beginning of the Israeli offensive has risen to 204, including fifty-nine children and thirty-four women, and the number of those wounded has risen to 836, including 251 children and 184 women.

According to the daily update by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the total number of injuries has risen to 1300, including fifty serious injuries.

These large numbers of injuries have increased the burden on medical crews and the already exhausted healthcare system due to the Israeli-imposed closure and the outbreak of coronavirus in addition to the negative impact of power outage on the operation of laboratories, blood banks and surgeries, especially considering the growing number of injuries.

Also, during these days, Gaza hospitals rely on generators due to long hours of power outage, rendering hospitals in urgent need of constant supply of fuel.
