August 19, 2017: Qoteiba Yousef Zahran, 17, was killed by Israeli soldiers at the Za’tara military roadblock, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

The Israeli army claimed the boy attempted to carry out a stabbing attack against the soldiers stationed at the checkpoint, and published a picture of a dull kitchen knife lying on the ground.

A soldier was injured in the incident, but it was from the flurry of bullets fired by the Israeli guards toward the 17-year old, not from the boy himself.

The soldier, who was mildly wounded, was treated immediately by medics from the Magen David Adom medical service.

Zahran reportedly approached the checkpoint carrying a bag, and the border guard stationed there attempted to arrest him.

The army claims that the boy then pulled out a knife and tried to attack them, but they fired a barrage of bullets, critically wounding Zahran, then leaving him to bleed to death.

Following the killing of Zahran, Israeli forces closed the Za’tara checkpoint for most of the day, preventing Palestinians from crossing in either direction.

The soldiers later invaded Qoteiba’s village and homes, arrested his brother Tareq, and took him to an interrogation center. Qoteiba was from Illar village, in Tulkarem. Source: IMEMC

Mahdi al-Saadi

Mahdi Jamal al-SaadiJuly 29, 2017: Mahdi Jamal al-Saadi, 22, was shot and killed by Israeli police near the Jaffa port. Another young man was moderately wounded by police gunfire as well.

The Israeli police claimed that the two tried to shoot at police from a motorcycle, but their families denied those claims. No police were injured.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Mahdi was shot six times in the upper body and neck. His neighbor Avi Ohaion, told the Post, “They didn’t have to kill him. He [Saadi] came to my clothing store just two days before the shooting. I knew him and his father. They are good people.”

The police also removed surveillance footage from businesses near where the shooting occurred.

Following the killing, the Israeli police held the body of al-Saadi in custody, preventing the family from holding the funeral (Islamic custom requires a funeral to be held as quickly as possible after a death).

Hundreds of people gathered at the family home of al-Saadi, then marched to the Abu Kabir Detention Facility, where his body was held for a number of hours, until successful negotiations between the family of al-Saadi and Israeli authorities.

At the same time, dozens of heavily-armored Israeli police lined up outside the detention facility where the protesters were gathered. Clashes broke out between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters, in which the Israeli police fired tear gas and concussion grenades at the crowd.

Four were arrested during the protest, including a leader with the Islamic Organization in Jaffa, Abdel-Qader Abu Shehada, and took them to the police station ‘Yftah’ in the city, where Abu Shehada was arrested from the center of ‘Yvit’, following the clashes that erupted between Police and youths angry at Saadi’s death.

Al-Saadi was the third Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in 24 hours. On Friday, a 24 year old man was killed at a military base south of Bethlehem, and a 16-year old boy was killed at a protest in Gaza. Source: IMEMC

Abdul-Rahman Abu Hamisha

July 28, 2017: Abdul-Rahman Hussein Abu Hamisha, 16, was killed by Israeli soldiers who fired live rounds at Palestinians protesting Israeli violations at the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said Abu Hamisha was shot near al-Boreij refugee camp in central Gaza when Israeli troops opened fire on the protesters. The Ministry added that the soldiers wounded at least ten others in the area, and other parts of the Gaza Strip.

The injured were all said to have received bullet wounds from live ammunition fired by the Israeli soldiers.

The soldiers also fired teargas bombs, causing many Palestinians to suffer the severe effects of teargas inhalation. Two Palestinian medics were among those who had to be hospitalized for teargas inhalation.

Another young Palestinian man was shot in the foot and was taken to Shifa hospital, while others suffered from tear gas inhalation, after the soldiers attacked protesters near Nahal Oz military base, across the fence, east of Gaza City.

In Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the soldiers fired live bullets and tear gas, injuring at least two youths with live bullets in their feet. The two children suffered moderate wounds, and were taken to Nasser Hospital in the city of Khan Younis. Abdul-Rahman was from al-Boreij refugee camp. Source: IMEMC

Abdullah Taqatqa

July 28, 2017: Abdullah Mahmoud Taqatqa, 24, was killed by Israeli soldiers at the Gush Etzion settlement junction, south of Bethlehem, in the West Bank, after the soldiers claimed he ran toward the while wielding a knife.

An eyewitness told the Maan News Agency that the Palestinian was walking towards Bethlehem, and was at least twenty meters away from the nearest soldier, when one of them shouted at him, and fired a live round, before other soldiers fired five more rounds.

He added that the soldiers then approached the Palestinian, before one of them kicked him to flip him over, and fired another round at him.

Israeli daily Haaretz quoted the army stating that the Palestinian ran towards soldiers, standing near a hitchhiking spot, while carrying a knife.

“I swear to God; the young man had no weapon of any kind… he had no knives, no weapons… nothing,” the eyewitness said. Abdullah was from Marah M’alla town, east of Bethlehem. Source: IMEMC

Mohammad Kanaan

July 27, 2017: Mohammad Fathi Kanaan, 25, died from a serious injury he suffered, on Monday July 24, 2017, after Israeli soldiers invaded Hizma town, and clashed with dozens of youngsters, before shooting him with a live round in the head.

The Palestinian was rushed to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, in Central West Bank, and was instantly moved to the surgery ward.

He remained in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit, until he was officially pronounced dead, on Thursday evening, July 27, 2017.

Odai Nawaj’a

July 22, 2017: Odai Aziz Nawaj’a, 17, was killed by an explosive, which was dropped by Israeli soldiers during one of their frequent military drills, detonated near him, in Khirbit Ebzeeq village, near Tubs, in northeaster West Bank.

Odai suffered various serious injuries, and died from his wounds at the Turkish Hospital, in Tubas.

Eyewitnesses said Nawaj’a was standing in the shade of a tree when apparently stepped on the explosive or moved it, and suffered life-threatening injuries that led to his death.

Nawaj’a village is a small Palestinian community that is frequently targeted by the Israeli army, especially since the soldiers repeatedly conduct live fire training, which also includes the use of explosives and bombs.

There are approximately forty families of shepherds and farmers in Khirbet Ebzeeq; they were displaced from their homes and towns prior to the establishment of Israel, in 1948, and fled to the West Bank.

The village is one of the dozens of villages and communities that are not recognized by Israel, but under its full control; therefore, it has no infrastructure or any services, including healthcare and running water.

Hundreds of Palestinians, mainly shepherds and children, have been killed by landmines and explosives dropped by the army, in addition to hundreds of injuries, many leading to permanent disabilities, since Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967. Yousef Kashour

July 22, 2017: Yousef Abbas Kashour, 24, was killed by Israeli soldiers in the al-‘Ezariyya town, to the east of East Jerusalem.

Yousef was shot with a live round in his chest, and was moved to Jericho governmental hospital, in Jericho city, before he was later transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex, in Ramallah, due to the seriousness of his condition.

He was shot during clashes that took place after Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinian worshipers, who held evening prayers near the Tribes Gate in Jerusalem, and sprayed them with waste-water mixed with chemicals.

Thousands of Palestinians have been holding prayers in the street and alleys surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, rejecting Israel’s closure and of the holy site, demanding unrestricted entry to the holy site, and refusing to go through metal-detention electronic gates that have been installed around the mosque,

Following the fatal shooting which took place on Friday morning, July 14, leading to the death of three Palestinians, and two Israeli officers, who were all Arab citizens of Israel,  the Israeli government started imposing harsher restrictions on all Palestinians wishing to enter the mosque. Mohammad Abu Ghannam

July 21, 2017: Mohammad Hasan Abu Ghannam, 20, was killed by Israeli soldiers during protests that took place after the army invaded at-Tour neighborhood, in East Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses said that the soldiers surrounded the Palestinian after shooting him, and that he bled to death when the army prevented Palestinian medics from approaching him.

Following the fatal shooting, Israeli soldiers and undercover officers frequently invaded Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem, after surrounding it, apparently to retrieve the corpse to the slain Palestinian, but young men managed to smuggle it out of the hospital, and his burial ceremony was held shortly afterwards.

Many Palestinians were also injured by Israeli fire and gas bombs, during the clashes, and one of the wounded Palestinians suffered a serious injury.

Al-Makassed Hospital also has issued an urgent call for blood donations, due to the large number of Palestinians, who were shot and injured by Israeli army fire, in different parts of the Jerusalem.

Mohammad was the third Palestinian to be killed within a few hours, after an armed Israeli settler killed a teenage boy, identified as Mohammad Mahmoud Sharaf, 18, in Ras al-‘Amoud neighborhood, in East Jerusalem, while the soldiers also killed Mohammad Lafi, 18, from Abu Dis town, east of Jerusalem, after shooting him with a live round in his heart.

The Israeli army declared Jerusalem’s Old City a closed military zone, preventing the Palestinians from entering or leaving it, denying them access to Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers.

July 21, 2017: Mohammad Lafi, 18, was killed by Israeli army fire in Abu Dis town, east of East Jerusalem, after the soldiers invaded it, and clashed with local youths.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that Mohammad was shot with a live round in his heart, and was moved to the Palestine Medical Complex, in Ramallah, where he died from his serious wounds.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that at least 140 Palestinians have been injured, in different parts of Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, and that most of them were shot by the army, and many others suffered fractures and bruises after being assaulted by the soldiers.

The soldiers also attacked many Palestinian medics, and fired gas bombs, rubber-coated steel bullets and live rounds at many ambulances, and invaded many Palestinian homes in the Old City, in addition to installing roadblocks in several areas, including the Gate of the Tribes (Bab Al-Asbat), Herod’s Gate (Bab al-Sahera), and Council Gate (Bab al-Majles), Jaffa Gate, al-Misrara, at-Tour, Wadi al-Jouz and Silwan.

July 21, 2017: Mohammad Mahmoud Sharaf, 17, was shot by an Israeli settler in Ras al-‘Amoud neighborhood, in occupied East Jerusalem, while Israeli soldiers shot and injured many Palestinians, during ensuing clashes.

Mohammad was shot in the neck with a live round fired by the settler, while the soldiers also attacked and clashed with dozens of Palestinians after preventing them from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers.

The attack took place at a military roadblock in Ras al-Amoud, after hundreds of soldiers were deployed in the area, completely isolating Al-Aqsa from its surrounding area.

The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) has reported that its medics have been unable to reach many injured Palestinians due to the extensive Israeli military and police deployment, and the strict siege blocking all roads and neighborhoods leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and added that at least two of the wounded Palestinians suffered life-threatening injuries.

Hundreds of Palestinians participated in Sharaf’s burial and funeral ceremony in Sweih neighborhood, in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in Jerusalem.

Earlier Friday, Israel decided to prevent all Palestinian men, below the age of fifty, from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, and even Jerusalem’s Old City, and deployed thousands of soldiers and officers into the city.
