April 13, 2018: Islam Herzallah, 28, was killed by Israeli forces with a live round in the abdomen, at a protest at the Israeli border fence east of Gaza city.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza confirmed that in addition to Islam being killed, at least 969 Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire, along the eastern border areas, in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

The young man was rushed to the Shifa medical center in Gaza city, where he succumbed to his serious wounds.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, added that the young man was shot east of Gaza city, and received the urgently needed treatment in a field clinic, before he was transferred to the medical center where he was rushed to surgery but succumbed to his serious wounds.

He also said that the army injured 969 Palestinians near border areas Rafah, Khan Younis, al-Boreij, east of Gaza, and east of Jabalia. 419 of them were moved to hospitals and medical centers, and 550 received treatment in field clinics and make-shift hospitals near border areas.

The army seriously injured a journalist, identified as Ahmad Abu Hussein, who was shot in the abdomen, and moderately injured another reporter, Mohammad Najjar, who was shot in the shoulder.

Many other journalists fainted after inhaling gas fired by the army, especially when army drones fired gas bombs at media vehicles and reporters.

Herzallah’s death brings the number of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli army fire since March 30th, to 36 Palestinians.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that Israeli soldiers injured, Friday, seventeen medics, after the army deliberately targeted field clinics with gas bombs, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. 701 Palestinians injured by army fire in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry stated that the army targeted the clearly marked field clinics, causing seventeen medics to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation, along with dozens of Palestinians, who were receiving treatment there.

It said that the medics will always provide the needed treatment to all wounded Palestinians despite the ongoing and escalating Israeli violations against them, in direct violation of International Law.

The Ministry also called on the international community to take a decisive and firm stance condemning Israel’s escalating violations, and to provide the urgently needed protection to the Palestinian people, and to ensure an end to the violations against the medics and all medical facilities.

April 12, 2018: Abdullah Mohammad Shahri, 28, was killed by Israeli forces who shot him with a live round in the chest, east of Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Abdullah is the second Palestinian to be killed on Thursday. The soldiers also targeted Palestinian ambulances, wounding one medic.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, said the soldiers shot Abdullah in the chest when he was more than 200 meters away from the border fence with Israel.

At least one Palestinian was also injured by Israeli army fire in the area and was rushed to a local hospital.

The soldiers also fired many live rounds directly targeting a Palestinian ambulance, and medics trying to provide aid to a wounded Palestinian, and injured one medic, identified as Emad al-Buheisi.

The wounded medic said he was providing treatment to an injured Palestinian inside the ambulance, when the soldiers fired may live round at it.

He was rushed to a hospital and was rushed to surgery after suffering serious bone fractures, and ruptured blood vessels, especially since the rounds fired by the soldiers at his ambulance were expanding bullets.

The medics were in an area 200 meters away from the border fence, when the soldiers targeted them and their ambulance with live fire.

Earlier Thursday, the Israeli airforce bombarded Gaza, killing one Palestinian, identified as Mohammad Hjeila, 31, and injuring another.

April 12, 2018: Mohammad Hjeila, 31, was killed by an Israeli bomb dropped by an Israeli fighter jet east of the Sheja’eyya neighborhood, in the eastern part of Gaza City.

After Israeli tanks spent the day firing artillery shells at numerous sites in northern and eastern Gaza, the Israeli military stepped up its assault on the coastal enclave Wednesday night with bombs dropped by the Israeli airforce which killed Mohammad.

Mohammad was with the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas party. His brother, Adham Hjeila, had been killed by Israeli forces in 2004.

The airstrikes on Gaza followed a day of shelling by the Israeli military. On Wednesday morning, a number of Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers invaded Gaza near the al-Mintar (Karni) crossing, an invasion that the Israeli military spokesperson described as ‘routine’.

The Israeli military claimed that during this invasion, an explosive device exploded near one of the militarized bulldozers.

Israeli forces stationed at the border then fired at least five shells east of Gaza City in Sheja’eyya and al-Zeitoun neighborhoods. A Palestinian was moderately wounded by the shelling and taken to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Later in the evening, the Israeli military sent in fighter jets to drop bombs in the same areas, which they claimed were being used as training sites for resistance fighters. According to Israeli media sources, Palestinian resistance fighters tried to shoot at the jets with guns. One bullet allegedly hit the roof of an Israeli house in a town adjacent to the border with Gaza, causing very slight damage.

In Gaza, dozens of houses near the site of the bombing had their windows blown out due to the ‘sonic boom’ from the bomb.

The Israeli military released a statement, saying, “A number of targets belonging to the Hamas terror organization were attacked. The [Israeli military] sees Hamas as responsible for any incident taking place in and from the strip and won’t allow the terror organization to turn the fence area into a conflict zone.”

This escalation by the Israeli military follows two weeks of non-violent protests by Palestinians in Gaza along the border fence with Israel. The Palestinians protesting at the fence are asking for an end to the decade-long siege of the tiny coastal strip, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

Through the siege, Israeli forces, who control the land, sea and air of Gaza, have prevented essential goods like fuel, medicine, building materials, maintenance equipment for electric and sewage plants, vehicles, books, medical equipment and many food items from entering Gaza. Palestinians have also been unable to leave Gaza for the past ten years, apart from very rare exceptions in which Palestinians who apply for a permit from Israel and wait for months or even years are sometimes allowed to leave.

April 9, 2018: Marwan Odah Qdeih, 45, died of critical wounds sustained a week earlier, on March 30^th, at the Palestinian Land Day protests in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources have reported that Marwan was shot by Israeli army fire on March 30^th in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, and succumbed to his wounds.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, stated that his death brings the number of Palestinians who were killed by the Israeli military since the “Great Return March” on March 30^th, to thirty Palestinians, (excluding a farmer who was killed on his land that morning), while at least 2860 have been injured, including dozens who suffered serious wounds.

On the same day of his serious injury, the first day of massive nonviolent protests marking the Palestinian Land Day, the soldiers killed 16 Palestinians, including a farmer who was killed on his land during morning hours, hours before the protests took place.

On Friday, April 6, one of Marwan’s relatives, identified as Osama Khamis Qdeih, 38, was among seven Palestinians, including one child, who were killed by Israeli forces during protests at the Gaza-Israel border.

In related news, Dr. al-Qedra said the soldiers injured, Sunday, four Palestinian protesters east of Jabalia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, and six others east of Gaza city.

On Sunday evening, Israeli soldiers shelled Palestinian agricultural land in the Juhr Ad-Deek area, southeast of Gaza city.

April 6, 2018: Hamza Abdul-al, 20, was killed by Israeli forces who shot him at a border protest in central Gaza. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and died later that same night.

He was one of two Palestinian civilians who were injured on Friday at the border protests, and died of their injuries overnight – bringing the total number of Palestinian civilians killed Friday to ten.

Israeli soldiers attacked protesters who were gathered in the north, east, and southern borders of Gaza.

Hamza died Friday night of injuries sustained during the protest earlier that day. Dr. Ashraf al-Qidra of the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed his death at the hospital where he was taken after being shot with a live round by Israeli forces.

Following the death of the two Palestinians, Dr. al-Qidra said that the Israeli soldiers have killed ten Palestinian civilians in Gaza on Friday April 6^th and injured 1,354, including 491 shot with live rounds and expanding bullets. 33 of those who were shot are still in critical condition.

Doctors at the Gaza Central Hospital reported that many of those who were injured by live fire were hit by expanding bullets, which tear apart internal organs and tissues once they enter the body. These types of bullets are illegal under international law for use against a civilian population.

April 6, 2018: Yasser Mortaja, 31, a photojournalist, was killed by Israeli forces who shot him in his abdomen – below his ‘PRESS’ flack jacket, while he was out covering a border protest.

Israeli soldiers attacked protesters who were gathered in the north, east, and southern borders of Gaza.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, said that photojournalist Yasser Mortaja, 31, died of a gunshot wound he sustained on Friday while documenting the protest. He was wearing a Press vest and was clearly performing his duty as a journalist when he was targeted by the Israeli sharpshooters stationed at the military base on the Gaza border.

Dr. al-Qedra reported that Mortaja was shot with a live round in his abdomen while covering a protest in east Khan Younis, near the border fence that imprisons Gaza. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died after several hours.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned the killing of Mortaja, and called on international journalist organizations to take a stand for the journalists in Gaza, who are being directly targeted by Israeli forces. In addition to killing Mortaja, the soldiers shot and wounded seven journalists who were covering the protests in Gaza on Friday April 6^th.

The Syndicate said they intend to take the case of Mortaja to international court, and to international organizations, and to call on the United Nations to stop the violations, and to implement their own resolutions condemning Israel’s repeated attacks on journalists.

Hamza Abdul-al, 20, from Zoweida village in Deir al-Baleh District in central Gaza, also died Friday night of injuries sustained during the protest earlier that day. Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra of the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed his death at the hospital where he was taken after being shot with a live round by Israeli forces.

Tha’er Mohammad Rabe’a

April 6, 2018: Tha’er Mohammad Rabe’a, 30, died on Friday morning from serious wounds he suffered when Israeli soldiers shot him with live fire, last Friday March 30th, in northern Gaza.

Tha’er suffered serious wounds after being shot with live army fire at a Land Day protest on the Gaza-Israel border on March 30^th 2018, and remained in critical condition until his death.

His death brings the number of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli army fire since Friday, March 30th, to twenty-one, including the farmer, Wahid Nasrallah Abu Sammour, who was killed on his land early Friday morning before the Land Day protests began. More than a thousand Palestinians were injured by Israeli forces, many of them with serious or critical wounds from live gunfire.

Ala’ Yahya az-Zamily

April 6, 2018: Ala’ Yahya az-Zamily, 17, was killed by the Israeli military on Friday April 6^th, 2018. He was among seven Palestinians, including one child, killed by Israeli forces during protests at the Gaza-Israel border. In addition to those killed, 992 others were injured in several parts of the coastal region. An eighth Palestinian died from serious wounds suffered last Friday.

The soldiers killed Ala’ Yahya az-Zamily, 17, after shooting him with a live round in his neck, east of Rafah.

Mohammad Sa’id Mousa al-Hajj Saleh, 33, from Rafah, in southern Gaza Strip, was shot with live Israeli army fire in the abdomen and chest, east of the city, during evening hours.

The Ministry stated that the child, identified as Hussein Mohammad Madhi, 16, was killed by Israeli army fire, on Friday evening, east of Gaza city.

Another Palestinian, identified as Sidqi Faraj Abu ‘Oteiwi, 45, from Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza, was also killed by Israeli army fire.

Also, the soldiers killed Ibrahim al-‘Orr, 20, in central Gaza.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, said the soldiers shot 1070 Palestinians, 551 of them were rushed to the make-shift clinics on Palestinian lands hundreds of meters away from the border fence.

He added that 442 wounded Palestinians were rushed to governmental hospitals, and 77 to private hospitals. Among the injured are 48 children, and 12 women.

25 Palestinians suffered life-threatening injuries, and 239 suffered moderate wounds, in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers also continued to deliberately target the Palestinian medic, and their ambulance, especially east of Rafah, with Gaza bombs, wounding seven of them.

In addition, the Health Ministry and the Red Crescent in Gaza have confirmed that the soldiers killed Majdi Ramadan Shbat, 38, east of Gaza city, after shooting him with a live round in the neck, while Osama Khamis Qdeih, 38, from Abasan al-Kabeera town, east of Khan Younis, was also killed by army fire.

The Israeli army fired long-range gas bombs that reached the make-shift field hospitals.

One of the wounded Palestinians is a journalist, identified as Yasser Mortaja, who was shot with a life round in his chest, while a female journalist, identified as Islam Za’noun, suffered the effects of teargas inhalation, despite wearing clearly marked press vests; both were injured east of Khan Younis.

The soldiers were witnessed deliberately firing a barrage of gas bombs, including high velocity, long range bombs, at crowds of protesters, in addition to firing many live rounds at them.

The soldiers also targeted many journalists with live fire and gas bombs, including during live coverage by the al-Mayadeen TV.

Furthermore, the army used planes and drones in firing a barrage of gas bombs at the Palestinians even in areas not close to the border fence.

Dozens of Palestinians suffered the severe effects of teargas inhalation and received the needed treatment in make-shift hospitals near the border fence, across the eastern part of the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers also targeted dozens of medics with gas bombs, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza, wounding many of them.

The Palestinians burnt dozens of tires near the border fence, in order to cloud the vision of the soldiers, especially the sharpshooters, who barricaded themselves behind huge sand hills across the border fence.

The army also used planes to extinguish the burnt tires, in addition to using water hoses and even fans to send the smoke back to the Palestinian side.

In related news, the soldiers shot three Palestinians, including one who suffered a head injury, in Ramallah, in central West Bank.

The soldiers also injured many Palestinians in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
