Israel claimed that Al-Bahtini directed the firing of homemade shells from Gaza over the past month.

Jihad Abdul-Hafeth Ghannam is a leader of the Military Council of the Islamic Jihad, and Ezzeddin, from Arraba town near Jenin in the northern West Bank, is a senior leader of the movement.

The Al-Quds Brigades issued a statement mourning Ghannam, the secretary of the group’s ‘Military Council’, Khalil Al-Bahtini, a member of the ‘Military Council’ in the Northern District, and Tareq Ibrahim Ezzeddin, one of the senior armed leaders of the group in the West Bank, and vowed retaliation.

According to initial reports, the strikes targeted areas in Gaza City, and Khan Younis in the southern part of the coastal region, leading to extensive property damage, nine deaths, and many injuries.

The reports also said the strikes targeted Islamic Jihad leaders and members of the group’s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades.

The Quds News Network said the Palestinians were killed when the Israeli army fired missiles at the homes and apartments of several leaders and senior officials of the Islamic Jihad movement.

Following the assassinations, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held an urgent meeting to discuss certain precautionary measures for Israelis living in settlements near the Gaza Strip in anticipation of retaliation from the Islamic Jihad and possibly other armed resistance groups.

The Israeli Coordinator of the Government Activities in the occupied territories declared a closure of the Erez (Beit Hanoun) and Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossings between the Gaza coastal region and Israel immediately after the army started bombing Gaza.

The Israeli Home Front Command also advised the Israeli living near the Gaza Strip to stay near shelters and banned all forms of gatherings in open places for more than ten people, in addition to banning gatherings in closed buildings for more than 100, the Israeli Jerusalem Post said.

The Israeli army said the strikes on Gaza came almost a week after dozens of shells were reportedly fired from the Gaza Strip, following the death of Islamic Jihad member Khader Adnan, 45, who died on May 2, at an Israeli prison after 87 days of hunger strike demanding his freedom as he was held under Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.

On May 3, a Palestinian man, Hashel Mubarak Salman Mubarak, 58, was killed by Israeli missiles in the Shati refugee camp northwest of Gaza City.

Jibril Mohammad Al-Lad’a

May 01, 2023: Jibril Mohammad Al-Lad’a, 17, was killed by Israeli soldiers who invaded the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp south of Jericho in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.

Medical sources said many Israeli military vehicles invaded the refugee camp, leading to protests before the soldiers fatally shot Jibril with a live round in the head.

After shooting Jibril, the soldiers left him bleeding on the ground without first aid until Palestinian medics were later allowed to approach him.

The sources added that the soldiers also shot six other Palestinians, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds before they were moved to Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah due to the seriousness of their wounds.

Eid Barahma, the head of the Jericho office of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), said the soldiers also invaded and ransacked many homes in the refugee camp before abducting Ahmad Jabr Wahdan and the secretary of the Fateh movement in the refugee camp, and Jihad Abu Al-Asal.

Thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral ceremony and procession, starting in front of the Jericho governmental hospital before heading to the teen’s family home in the refugee camp, where prayers were held in the local mosque before he was buried at the local cemetery.

A general strike was declared in Jericho to mourn the teen’s death and to condemn the seriously escalating Israeli crime and violations.

It is worth mentioning that the army continued the strict siege on Jericho for the tenth consecutive day, searching dozens of Palestinian vehicles and interrogating the citizens, forcing them to wait many hours at the various military roadblocks around the city.

Earlier in the day, Israeli soldiers invaded Bethlehem city and nearby Beit Jala, in the occupied West Bank, seriously shot a young Palestinian man and abducted a man from his home.

The soldiers also abducted at least twenty Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, including fathers and their sons.

Mustafa Amer Sabah

April 28, 2023: Mustafa Amer Sabah, 15, was killed by Israeli soldiers in Tuqu town, east of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank.

Media sources said the soldiers invaded the Al-Khirba archaeological area in Tuqu, leading to protests before they fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that the soldiers killed Mustafa after shooting him with a live round in the chest.

It added that the medics rushed the child to the Al-Hikma Medical Center, where he was officially pronounced dead.

After his death, hundreds of Palestinians marched in the town, chanting for steadfastness and ongoing resistance until liberation and independence.

On Thursday, Israeli soldiers killed Ahmad Yacoub Taha, 39, near Hares village, west of Salfit in the central West Bank. Ahmad was from Bidiya town, west of Salfit.

Taha’s killing is similar to how undercover Israeli soldiers executed Nidal Amin Khazem, 28, at point-blank after he was already shot and seriously injured on March 16, 2023, in Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

It is similar to how the soldiers killed Ahmad Hasan Kahla, 45, on January 15, 2023, underneath the Yabroud Bridge, east of Ramallah in the central West Bank. Khala was a married father of five children and was with his oldest son, Qussai, 20, when he was killed.

On Monday, April 24, a paramilitary Israeli colonizer killed Hatem As’ad Abu Najma, 39, a married father of five from Beit Safafa town, south of occupied Jerusalem, after he reportedly injured seven Israelis in what the army called a ramming attack in occupied Jerusalem.

Earlier that day, Israeli soldiers invaded the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho city in the northeastern West Bank, killed Suleiman Ayesh Hussin Oweid, 20, before taking his corpse away, injured three, and abducted three others, including two siblings.

Mohammad Fayez Balhan

April 10, 2023: Mohammad Fayez Balhan, 15, was killed by Israeli soldiers in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho, in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.

Media sources said many Israeli army vehicles invaded the refugee camp leading to protests, before the soldiers fatally shot the Palestinian child, injured two young men, and abducted five.

They added that the soldiers surrounded and isolated the refugee camp before undercover soldiers invaded it and encircled a home.

Minutes later, many army vehicles stormed the refugee camp and deployed sharpshooters on rooftops of nearby homes and buildings, leading to protests.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that the soldiers killed the child, Mohammad Fayez Balhan, 15, after shooting him with three bullets to the head, abdomen, and pelvis.

The Health Ministry added that the soldiers also shot two Palestinians with live fire to the lower extremities before the medics rushed them to Jericho governmental hospital.

The Israeli army said the invasion is not directly related to the shooting that led to the death of two Israeli colonizers and the injury of their mother in the Jordan Valley on April 7th.

The army added that “it is operating to curb the rise of shooting incidents in Jericho and the Jordan valley, two major West Bank areas that didn’t witness serious security incidents the previous years.

On April 8, 2023, the soldiers killed Ayed Azzam Mahmoud Salim, 20, at the main entrance to Azzoun town, east of Qalqilia, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

On April 3, 2023, the soldiers killed Mohammad Mustafa Juneidi (Abu Bakr), 43, and Mohammad Nasser Sa’id Hallaq, 21, in Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

On April 01, 2023, the army killed Mohammad Raed Nayef Baradiya, 23, near the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, and Mohammad Al-Asibi, 26, in occupied Jerusalem.

According to the Health Ministry, Israeli soldiers killed 96 Palestinians, including eighteen children, one woman, and a young man from Houra town in the Negev, since the beginning of this year.

Omar Mohammad Awadin

March 16, 2023: Omar Mohammad Awadin, 14, was shot and killed by Israeli undercover forces who invaded Jenin and killed four Palestinians, including a child and a young man who was executed while lying injured on the ground, and wounded more than 21 Palestinians, five seriously.

In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said the soldiers killed Yousef Saleh Barakat Shreim, 29, Nidal Amin Zidan Khazem, 28, Omar Mohammad Awadin, 14, and Luay Khalil Zghayyar, 37.

Defense For Children International – Palestine Branch, said on its Twitter account: “Israeli special forces shot 14-year-old Omar Mohammad Omar Awadin in the back with live ammunition while he was riding his bike outside his parents’ shop around 3 p.m. today in Jenin. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Jenin Government Hospital.”

The Health Ministry added that the soldiers shot at least 21 Palestinians, including four who suffered life-threatening wounds.

The Ministry said 12 Palestinians who were shot with live fire, including four who suffered serious wounds, were rushed to the Ar-Razi Hospital, five were moved to Jenin governmental hospital, six, including one who was seriously injured and one who was rammed by an army jeep, were moved to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital.

One of the wounded Palestinians, a child named Ahmad Farahna, will be transferred to the Al-Maqasid hospital in Jerusalem, due to the seriousness of his wounds.

Eyewitnesses said undercover Israeli soldiers infiltrated the center of Jenin city and executed the Palestinians, as many army vehicles invaded the area and started firing dozens of live rounds at the Palestinians and surrounding homes and properties.

A video from the scene shows an undercover soldier executing the seriously wounded Nidal Amin Khazem by shooting him a live round in the head, even though he was already lying flat on his stomach, motionless and unconscious.

Palestinian medics tried to reach Nidal, but the soldiers did not allow them through before the undercover officer executed him.

There has been a serious increase of cases where Israeli soldiers have executed Palestinians, including in January of this year, 2023, when the soldiers killed Ahmad Kahala, 45, a father of five, from point-blank range with two live rounds in the neck near a military roadblock under Yabrud bridge, east of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

A similar incident occurred on December 2, 2022, in Huwwara town, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, when the soldiers executed Ammar Hamdi Mifleh, 22, while he was lying on the ground. After shooting Ammar on the ground once, the soldier then fired a total of four times again. Ammar was unarmed and was lying on the ground when he was shot.

After concluding its offensive in Jenin, the Israeli army said it had carried out a joint operation with the undercover forces and intelligence officers, adding that one of the Palestinians, Nidal Amin Khazem, was a senior fighter of the Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic jihad, and was “behind serious attacks against Israeli targets.”

The army claimed that the soldiers “neutralized a Palestinian who tried to throw a large iron object on the army, ” and stated that the soldiers “fired live rounds at Palestinian fighters who engaged in a fire exchange with the soldiers,” and said “its operations will continue to ensure Israel’s security.”
