October 11, 2022: Ido Baruch, 20, an Israeli soldier who succumbed to serious wounds he suffered in a shooting targeting a large group of colonizers, guarded by dozens of soldiers while marching near Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli army said the injured soldier suffered a serious gunshot wound to the upper body before he received treatment at the scene and was rushed to an Israeli hospital but succumbed to his serious wounds.

Israeli sources said the soldier was rushed to Meir Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder and added that the bullet then traveled to his chest cavity, causing him excessive bleeding that resulted in his death despite all efforts to revive him.

The army said the shooting occurred near the colony’s eastern gate and stated that the wounded soldier was shot in the shoulder; his condition was initially described as mild but later deteriorated and was classified as serious.

The shooting happened after dozens of colonizers marched near the illegal Shvei Shomron colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands west of Nablus.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Israeli army, a Palestinian opened fire from a moving car near the colony before the vehicle sped away.

Following the shooting, the Israeli army pushed more troops into the area, invaded all nearby Palestinian villages and towns, and initiated a massive search campaign for the shooter and the car. The army also closed all military roadblocks leading to Nablus.

On October 10, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of a child, Mahmoud Mohammad Sammoudi, 12, who, on September 28, was shot and seriously injured by Israel army fire when the soldiers also killed four young Palestinian men in Jenin and Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.

The four Palestinians killed on the day of the invasions of Jenin and its refugee camp were identified as Mohammad Hisham Abu Na’sa, 25, Abdul-Rahman Fathi Khazem, 27, Ahmad Nathmi Alawna, 24, and Mohammad Mahmoud Barahma, 30.

On October 9, the Israeli army announced the death of Sgt. Noa Lazar, 18, an Israeli soldier who was shot by a Palestinian at a military roadblock near Shu’fat, in occupied Jerusalem, on Saturday evening.

October 09, 2022: Noa Lazar, 18, died from serious wounds she sustained a day earlier when she was shot by a Palestinian at a military roadblock near Shu’fat, in occupied Jerusalem, in the West Bank.

The army said the soldier Sgt. Noa Lazar, 18, was a member of the Israeli army’s Military Police Erez Battalion.

Noa and an armed civilian guard were injured and were rushed to a hospital in Jerusalem for medical treatment before she underwent brain surgery but succumbed to her serious wounds.

Israeli sources said the wounded guard also underwent surgery by neurosurgeons overnight, adding that he is still in critical condition, hooked to a ventilator.

According to the Israeli sources, the Palestinian apparently arrived at the roadblock on foot, approximately at 9 p.m., before he fired several live rounds and reportedly ran towards Shu’fat refugee camp.

A video surveillance footage shows the Palestinian getting out of a car and casually walking towards the roadblock before opening fire from a handgun wounding the two and running away toward the refugee camp before the army initiated a large search campaign.

Jerusalem District Police Commander Doron Turgeman said the identities of the shooter and two other Palestinians involved in the incident are known to police.

Israeli Public Security Minister Omer Barlev arrived at the shooting scene and vowed to capture the shooter “alive or dead,” adding that the shooter was 22, from Shu’fat.

The Israeli army also said the soldiers abducted three Palestinians, in their twenties, from Shu’fat and Beit Hanina, allegedly for being “accomplices in the shooting.”

According to the Israeli army radio, the soldiers arrested three members of the Palestinian believed to be the shooting, adding that the man, believed to be the driver of the car, turned himself in to the police, but said the driver is not believed to be involved of the shooting or had any prior knowledge of it.

A day earlier, Israeli soldiers killed Ahmad Mohammad Hussein Daraghma, 24, and Mahmoud Moayyad Sous, 18, in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Their deaths also came just a day after the Israeli army killed two Palestinians teens, Adel Ibrahim Adel Daoud, 14, and Mahdi Mohammad Ladadwa, 17, and injured dozens of Palestinians near Qalqilia and Ramallah, in the northern and central parts of the occupied West Bank.

September 14, 2022: Bar Pelach, 30, was killed during an exchange of gunfire near the village of Jalama, north of Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, before the soldiers killed two Palestinians.

According to Israeli sources, the two Palestinians were seen approaching the Israeli Annexation Wall near the village, and Israeli soldiers began to drive up near them.

An Exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of Maj. Bar Pelach, deputy commander of the Nahal Reconnaissance Battalion.

During the fire exchange the Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinians, identified as Ahmad Ayman Ibrahim ‘Aabed, 23, and Abdul-Rahman Hani Sobhi ‘Aabed, 22, from Kafr Dan town, northwest of Jenin.

Palestine TV said Ahmad, a graduate of the Istiqlal University, worked with the Palestinian Military Intelligence service.

According to Israeli sources, the two Palestinians were seen approaching the Israeli Annexation Wall near the village, and Israeli soldiers began to drive up near them.

The Israeli media reported that the Palestinians began shooting at the soldiers, who returned fire, resulting in the two Palestinians being killed and one Israeli soldier.

The army phoned their families, ordering them to come to the roadblock to identify their corpses, but refused to release them for burial.

The army also closed the roadblock and said it would remain blockaded until Friday.

Abdul-Rahman’s father said a senior army officer ordered him to head to the roadblock and detained him for about an hour before showing him mobile phone pictures of his slain son and Ahmad after they were shot dead.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the Fateh party, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Palestinian factions in Jenin declared a general strike to mourn the slain Palestinians.

Amjad Abu Farha, the head of Al-Jalama Village Council, said several army jeeps and bulldozers invaded the village and demolished a cement wall where the two young men were killed. The demolished wall is on land owned by Morad Saleh Abu Farha.

A spokesperson for the Hamas party, Hazem Qasem, reportedly said, “As of today, the heroes of Jenin ignore all the empty threats of the occupation against the cities of the West Bank and do not pay attention to the Israeli attempts to intimidate the resistance.

“The martyrs of Jenin this morning are fueling another revolution and escalation of the struggle against the occupation and their blood is the tax of triumph and liberation. This revolution will continue to escalate across all West Bank cities in defense of the al-Aqsa Mosque, in response to the occupation’s crimes, and on the path to liberation of the land, the people, and the martyrs.”

Following the fatal shooting, the Israeli cabinet convened a special session to discuss the “increasing number of Palestinian attacks'” this month.

The killing of the two young brings the number of slain Palestinians, killed by the Israeli occupation army this month to ten, in addition to one a political prisoner who died at an Israeli medical center.

On September 11, a young Palestinian man, Hamad Mustafa Abu Jilda, 24, from Jenin refugee camp, died from serious wounds he suffered on September 6, after dozens of military vehicles invaded Jenin city and Jenin refugee camp.

On September 8, Haitham Hani Mubarak, 16, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers near the main entrance of Beitin village, northeast of Ramallah, in the central West Bank.

On September 7, the soldiers killed Younis Ghassan Tayeh, 21, in the al-Far’a refugee camp, south of Tubas, in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.

On September 6, the soldiers killed Mohammad Mousa Saba’na, 29, and injured at least nine Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

On September 5, the soldiers invaded Jenin city and Qabatia town, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, killed a young man, Taher Mohmmad Zakarna, 19, injured another, and abducted five.

On September 2, the soldiers killed Fadi Mohammad Fayez Ghattas, 19, after an alleged stabbing attack targeting soldiers, near Beit Einoun village junction, northeast of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

On September 1, the soldiers killed Yazan Naim Affana, 24, after shooting him with live fire while the army withdrew from Um ash-Sharayet neighborhood in Al-Biereh city after the army invaded the Al-Biereh city in the Ramallah and Al-Biereh governorate, in the central part of the occupied West Bank.

On the same day, the soldiers killed Mahmoud Suleiman Khaled, 25, in front of the main entrance of Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

On September 3, Mousa Haroun Abu Mahameed, 40, a Palestinian political prisoner held by Israel, died at an Israeli medical center.

Natan Fitoussi

August 15, 2022: Natan Fitoussi, 20, was shot and killed by a fellow Israeli soldier — not by Palestinian fighters, as Israel had originally claimed.

The deceased soldier was identified as Sergeant Natan Fitoussi, 20. He was posthumously promoted from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant. Fitoussi immigrated to Israeli from France in 2014.

According to Israeli sources, Fitoussi was stationed at a guard post on the Israeli side of the Annexation Wall near Tulkarem on August 15th.

He left the guard post for a short time, and when he returned, the other soldier stationed at the post shot at him and killed him. Fitoussi lived in Netanya, since 2014.

Initially, the Israeli army reported the incident as a shooting attack by Palestinians. Israeli troops then began searching the nearby Palestinian villages for the alleged gunman.

But after that initial report, and following an investigation, Israeli military officials clarified that the incident was not a shooting attack by Palestinians.

Such incidents of so-called ‘friendly fire’ are common among Israeli soldiers, especially during ground invasions when soldiers get excited and confused and begin firing at one another.

Earlier this year, two Israeli military officers from an elite commando unit were shot by ‘friendly fire’ at a military base in the Jordan Valley.

The military criticized the Israeli media for reporting on the incident before confirming the details, and before the military had a chance to notify the soldier’s family of his death.

Noam Raz

May 13, 2022: Noam Raz, 47, was killed by Palestinian fighters when Israeli soldiers carried out a dawn invasion into the village of Burqin and Jenin refugee camp, in the Jenin governorate, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

The Times Of Israel said, “Raz was one of the founding members of Kida,” an illegal colony near the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

Raz was part of a squadron of troops that attacked the family home of Mohammad al-Dab’i in the village of Burqin in a pre-dawn raid.

The soldiers besieged the home for hours, while Palestinian resistance fighters gathered inside to try to protect the home. Some of those inside the home eventually came outside with their hands raised and were taken by the soldiers, but Israeli forces continued the siege and began to open fire on those that remained inside, wounding eleven.

During the invasion of the Palestinian village, the invading Israeli soldiers came under fire from Palestinian resistance fighters, one of whom apparently fired a bullet that hit Raz. Israeli soldiers shot 11 Palestinians during their assault on the village.

During the invasion, the soldiers shot and seriously injured Daoud Zobeidi, 40, the brother of the famous Palestinian prisoner Zakaria Zubeidi, who was one of six prisoners who managed to escape from a high-security Israeli prison last year by digging a tunnel with spoons. Daoud died from his wounds two days later.

The high-profile prison escape was a source of embarrassment for the Israeli government, which prides itself on its security measures — arms and security equipment are Israel’s biggest export.

After he was shot, Raz was taken to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa with critical gunshot wounds, and later died of his wounds.

Raz died on the same day that a Palestinian who was wounded by Israeli soldiers last month while praying during the Holy Month of Ramadan died of his wounds, and just two days after a world-famous Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was shot execution-style by Israeli soldiers while standing with other journalists in front of a stone wall in Jenin.

Shireen was shot with a live round in the head while wearing her press vest and helmet when an Israeli army sharpshooter fired one round at her.

The Ministry added that the soldiers first shot journalist Ali Sammoudi with a live round in the back, just as the journalists from various media agencies gathered in an open area in a clear line of sight from Israeli soldiers when the army committed its heinous crime.

Sammoudi, who was shot in the back, said that he, Shireen, and several other journalists gathered near a UNRWA-run school near Jenin refugee camp and were all wearing press vests and helmets before the soldiers shot him in the back and then shot Shireen with a live round in the head.

April 29, 2022: Vyacheslav Golev, 23, was shot dead by Palestinian fighters who managed to escape from the scene at the main entrance of the Ariel illegal colony in the occupied West Bank. The two shooters were identified by Israeli authorities as Sameeh Assi and Yahya Marei, both in their 20s. They were captured after a 20-hour manhunt by Israeli troops.

Israeli Ynet News said video footage from the scene of the fatal shooting shows two persons stepping out of a car before running up to the guard station and shooting one of the security guards stationed there.

According to the Times of Israel, Golev was a former student at Ariel University who was working as a security guard at the entrance to the settlement. The paper reported that he was working along with his fiancée Victoria Fligelman, and shielded her from injury when the shooting occurred.

One of the shooters returned to the car, made a U-turn, and picked up the other person before speeding away, Ynet added.

Israeli medics said they tried first aid after arriving at the scene, but the guard had no pulse and wasn’t breathing before they pronounced him dead due to his serious wounds.

A few hours after the shooting, the Israeli army closed the iron gate near Qarawat Bani Hasan town, on the main road leading to villages and towns west of Salfit, and prevented the Palestinians from crossing.

The soldiers briefly detained and interrogated dozens of Palestinians and searched many cars.

The Israeli army and Shin Bet (Israel’s Internal Security Agency) initiated a massive search campaign in the entire area, especially north and west of Salfit.

The army said it found a burnt car believed to be the one used in the fatal shooting.

The soldiers also installed many roadblocks, blocking main roads and isolating entire Palestinian communities.

The army also invaded and ransacked many Palestinian homes and shops on Kafr Thuluth, Beit Amin, and Sanniriya, near Qalqilia, during the ongoing search for the shooters and confiscated surveillance recordings and equipment.

December 16, 2021: Yehuda Dimantman, 20, was killed by Palestinians who opened fire at his car, near the evacuated Homesh colonialist outpost, which was built on Palestinian lands north of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli sources said the Yehuda was with two of his friends, driving from a Yeshiva when their car came under fire near Homesh.

They stated that Yehuda was a Yeshiva student who lived in the Shavei Shomron colony and added his two friends were mildly injured.

After the shooting, the medics rushed to the scene and tried to revive Yehuda but had to pronounce his death due to his serious wounds.

Hundreds of Israeli soldiers arrived at the scene, closed many roadblocks in the area, including Huwwara, Jeet, and Beit Forik, in addition to installing many roadblocks in the area, in an attempt to locate the shooters.

Israeli sources said the Israeli Shin Bet security agency also joined the search and investigation.

While the Hamas movement did not claim responsibility for the shooting, it praised the attack, and described it as a “heroic operation against the illegal Israeli occupation and its murderous settlers.”

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army and the security agency said they managed to pinpoint the location where the Palestinians opened fire at the car and added that they [the Palestinian shooters] stood near the road and fired nearly ten live rounds at the car while it was leaving the area and said that the efforts to capture the shooters are ongoing.

The Israeli army deployed dozens of soldiers in the area and initiated a massive search campaign.

In the evening hours of the same day, a group of Israeli colonizers attacked many Palestinian cars and closed the main road, east of Hebron city, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

It is worth mentioning that Israeli soldiers killed four Palestinians, including a child, in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of this month.

On December 12, 2021, the soldiers killed Jamil Mohammad al-Kayyal, 31, after the army invaded Nablus.

On December 10, 2021, the soldiers killed Jamil Abu Ayyash, 31, during the weekly protest against the illegal Israeli colonies in Beita town, southeast of Nablus.

On December 6, 2021, the soldiers killed a child, Mohammad Nidal Younis, 15, at a military roadblock near Tulkarem, in the northern part of the West Bank, after the army claimed he intentionally rammed his car into the roadblock.

May 5th, 2021: Yehuda Guetta, 19, of Jerusalem, died from wounds sustained three days earlier in a drive-by shooting

He was one of three 19-year old Israeli settlers were shot and injured by gunshots from a passing vehicle while standing on the roadside by Za’tara military checkpoint in southern occupied Nablus.

Israeli soldiers stationed at the checkpoint opened fire at the vehicle from which the shots were fired — identified as a silver SUV — but the vehicle drove away.

The three wounded Israelis were identified as Yehuda Guetta from Jerusalem, Benaya Peretz from Beit Shean, and Amichai Hala from Safed. The three were students at a Yeshiva (Jewish religious school) located in Itamar settlement, built on stolen Palestinian land near Nablus.

Yehuda sustained critical injuries, while the other two sustained moderate and light injuries, respectively.

According to the Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, “The [Israeli military] and security forces will not rest until they get their hands on the terrorists who carried out the attack”.

Following the shooting, Israeli forces closed the checkpoint, preventing all Palestinian civilians from entering or leaving the area. They also began invading nearby villages and towns, forcing all residents to remain in their homes during the invasions.

In addition, the Israeli military set up a number of ‘flying checkpoints’ throughout the northern West Bank, forcing Palestinian civilians to remain stopped on roadways for hours at a time waiting for their vehicles to be examined by the soldiers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a a statement saying that, “We will not allow terror to raise its head, and we will strike our enemies forcefully.”

The three victims were taken to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva for treatment.

The attack came in the midst of high tensions throughout the West Bank, with numerous attacks against Palestinian civilians by Israeli settlers and soldiers. The violent attacks against Palestinian civilians began two weeks ago, at the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, when a right-wing Israeli group Lehava held a march through Palestinian neighborhoods shouting ‘Death to Arabs’ and injuring more than a hundred Palestinians in a single night.

Israeli soldiers and settlers have, over the previous three weeks before this shooting, repeatedly attacked Palestinian worshipers at and around the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is the third-holiest site in Islam.

According to Israeli media, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement issued a statement that, “We praise the courageous operation at Za’tara checkpoint. We consider it a message in the name of the entire Palestinian people that Jerusalem is a red line and harming the holy places will cause an explosion of anger in the face of the occupation”.

December 21st, 2020: Esther Horgan, 52, was found dead, Monday, near Tel Menashe illegal colony, near Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, in what Israel speculates an attack carried out by a Palestinian when she went for a jog in a nearby forest.

Israeli media sources said the corpse of Esther Horgan, 52, a mother of six, was found in the forest close to her home earlier Monday, and added that the attack resulted in a broken skull along with other injuries.

They stated that Horgan left her residence on Sunday afternoon and went jogging in the forest, but never returned home. Her husband then contacted the police before they initiated a search.

After her body was located, the Israeli army and the police initiated a massive search campaign to locate the person/s responsible for her death. Her family and friends started looking for her on Sunday afternoon after she went missing.

Three days after her body was found, Israeli forces abducted a man they claim was suspected of being responsible for her death.

In related news, Israeli sources said a settler, 18 years of age, was killed and four others were injured, during a chase by the Israeli police after they hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles near Ramallah, in central West Bank.

The Police said one of its undercover units ordered the vehicle to stop and gave chase after the driver refused to pull over and sped away before the vehicle slid and crashed.

Five settlers who were in the vehicle were injured, four of them suffered mild wounds, and one, identified as Ahuvya Sandak, 19, was pinned under the car and died at the scene.

November 12th, 2020: Sagi Ben-David, a Corporal in the Israeli military, was found deceased on Thursday morning – but the Israeli military said they did not have evidence of any foul play.

On Thursday, the Israeli army said that it located, near Jerusalem, the corpse of a soldier who went missing Tuesday.

The army said the corpse was located near Hizma military roadblock, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, and added that the military and the police are cooperating in investigating his death.

It identified the soldier as corporal Sagi Ben-David, and said he went missing Tuesday.According to Israeli Ynet News, the soldier was serving at Anatot military base, near Jerusalem, and that he apparently turned his phone off when he left the base.

It added that his death “does not appear to be a nationalistic act,” in other words, the army does not believe the incident is related to the conflict.
