May 25, 2018: Yasser Sami Habib, 24, succumbed to wounds sustained from Israeli army gunfire during the protests on May 14th, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Habib suffered a very serious injury while protesting in Gaza on May 14th, along with thousands of other Palestinians. He was rushed to a hospital in Gaza, and was later transferred to Sr. Joseph Hospital, in occupied Jerusalem, where he succumbed to his wounds on Friday May 25th.

Two other Palestinians who were injured, during the protests on May 14, also succumbed to their wounds the evening before Yasser died. They have been identified as Ahmad Ali Qattoush, 23 Mohannad Bakr Abu Tahoun, 21.

The death of Yasser brings the number of Palestinians killed in the ‘Great Return March’ protests to 115 since March 30th, 2018. Israeli forces injured more than 13,000, including 332 who suffered life-threatening wounds, since the Great Return March procession started on Palestinian Land Day, on March 30th, 2018.

On the day that Yasser died of his wounds, more protests were taking place in Gaza, with at least 109 Palestinians, including four children and nine women, injured by Israeli gunfire. Many others suffered from teargas inhalation, after Israeli soldiers attacked them while they were participating in the continuing Great March of Return protests along the Gaza-Israel border, WAFA medical sources said.

Among the wounded, three were critically injured by gunshots in the head, while the others sustained various bodily injuries.

Other protesters also suffered from tear gas inhalation when Israeli soldiers fired teargas canisters at them, who, despite a hot Ramadan day, continued to protest peacefully along the eastern border of the Strip, demanding the right of return to their pre-1948 homes in historical Palestine.

Ahmad Ali QattoushMay 24, 2018: Ahmad Ali Qattoush, 23, died at the Shifa Medical Center in Gaza, from serious wounds he suffered several days ago, after Israeli soldiers shot him with a live round in the head, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in Central Gaza.

Ahmad had been shot and seriously injured by Israeli army fire in the Gaza Strip at a protest on March 14th as part of the Great March of Return, and on May 24, succumbed to his serious wounds.

It is worth mentioning that Ahmad has two other brothers, identified as Rami and Ibrahim, who were also killed by Israeli army fire in previous years. Ahmad is from Nusseirat city, in Deir al-Balah, in Central Gaza Strip.

Dr. al-Qedra added that another Palestinian, identified as Mohannad Bakr Abu Tahoun, 21, died on the same day, from serious wounds he suffered, after an Israeli soldier shot him with a live round in the head, on May 14th.

Abu Tahoun, from Zawaida area in Gaza city, was moved to a hospital in Gaza, before he was transferred, Wednesday, to the Al-Ahli Palestinian hospital, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, where he succumbed to his wounds on Thursday evening.

Dr. al-Qedra said 50 Palestinians, who were injured by Israeli army fire since the Great Return March nonviolent protests started on March 30th, have been declared clinically dead, and added that 114 Palestinians, including 14 children and two journalists, who were killed.

Israeli soldiers have injured 13190 Palestinians since then, 330 of them suffered life-threatening wounds.

13 of the Palestinians who were killed by Israeli army fire, and 2096 of the wounded, are children, while 7618 of the injured were shot with live fire, the illegal expanding bullets in addition to rubber-coated steel bullets, and the rest suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

It is worth mentioning that 32 of the wounded Palestinians suffered injuries that caused the amputation of their limbs; 27 of them had their legs amputated.

May 24, 2018: Mohannad Bakr Abu Tahoun, 21, died from serious wounds he suffered when an Israeli soldier shot him with a live round in the head, on May 14th.

Mohannad, from Zawaida area in Gaza city, was moved to a hospital in Gaza, before he was transferred, Wednesday, to the Al-Ahli Palestinian hospital, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, where he succumbed to his wounds on Thursday evening.

Mohammad Mazen Oleyyan

May 19, 2018: Mohammad Mazen Oleyyan, 20, died from serious wounds he suffered on Monday, May 14 while participating in a non-violent protest at the east border of Gaza.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip reported that the young man was shot with live Israeli army fire, and died from his serious wounds at the Al-Quds Hospital, in Gaza.

Mohammad had been shot with a live round in the head, during the Great Return March, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza.

He remained in critical condition, before was pronounced brain dead, and passed away Saturday.

On Saturday at dawn, another Palestinian identified as Mo’in ِِAbdul-Hamid Sa’ey, 58 years of age, died from his serious wounds at the Shifa Medical Center in Gaza city, where he had been rushed to surgery after being critically wounded in the protest, and then to the Intensive Care Unit until he succumbed to his wounds.

On the same day of his serious injury, Israeli soldiers killed 60 Palestinians, including an eight-month-old baby, 6 children and four officers of the Ministry of Interior and National Security, in the Gaza Strip, and injured more than 2700, among them 122 children, and 44 women.

27 of the injured Palestinians suffered very critical wounds, 59 serious injuries, 735 moderate wounds, and 882 suffered light wounds.

772 of the wounded Palestinians were shot with live rounds, three with rubber-coated steel bullets, 91 with shrapnel, 100 cuts and bruises and 737 suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

65 of the wounded were shot in the head and neck, 116 in their arms, 48 in the chest and back, 651 in the lower extremities, 52 in several parts of their bodies and 737 suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

On Friday, May 18th, the soldiers injured 56 Palestinians, including two journalists and one medic, in several parts of the Gaza Strip. Twenty-three of the wounded Palestinians were shot with live rounds.

The deaths of Mohammad and Mo’in on Saturday bring the number of Palestinians who were killed since the processions started on Palestinian Land Day, March 30, to 119 while more than 12000 have been injured.

May 15, 2018: Omar Abu Fol, 30, died from serious wounds he suffered, a day earlier, after Israeli soldiers shot him with live fire, near the border fence, east of Gaza City.

He was shot near the eastern border of Gaza city, when Israeli army sharpshooters targeted nonviolent protesters participating in the Great March of Return, marking the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians before Israel was established in the historic land of Palestine.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said his death brings the number of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli army fire and gas bombs, to sixty in less than two days, including six children and four officers of the Ministry of Interior and National Security,

Among the slain Palestinians is an eight-month-old baby, identified as Laila Anwar al-Ghandour, who died from suffocation from tear gas.

At least 2771 Palestinians, including 86 women and girls, and 122 children, were injured by Israeli army fire.

27 of the wounded Palestinians suffered very serious wounds, 59 serious injuries, 735 moderate wounds, and 882 suffered light wounds.

772 were shot with live rounds, three with rubber-coated steel bullets, 91 with shrapnel.

May 15, 2018: Talal Adel Ibrahim Matar, 16, was shot with live Israeli army fire, east of Gaza city, on Monday April 14, and remained in a critical condition until he succumbed to his serious wounds.

The child was shot by the soldiers, stationed across the border fence, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza.

Talal was rushed to the Shifa Medical Center, in Gaza City, and remained in a critical condition until he succumbed to his serious wounds, one day after her serious injury.

On the same day, another Palestinian, identified as Omar Abu Fol, 30, died from serious wounds he suffered, also on April 14, after Israeli soldiers shot him, east of Gaza City.

May 14, 2018:  Laila Ghandour, 8 months old, died from suffocation from tear gas near the protest.

She was in a tent, one one of many which were known to contain families, medical teams, and injured protesters.

She was one of sixty Palestinians killed during a protest against the U.S. moving its Embassy to Jerusalem on Monday May 14th, 2018.

The protest also focused on commemorating  the 70th anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe), when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their homes for the creation of the state of Israel – creating the largest refugee population on earth, many of whom remain in exile generations later.

Laila’s family had not carried the baby to the protest, as some media agencies claimed. An interview with her father after her death by RT News made it clear that the baby was in a tent located 1.5 kilometers away from the border. Her grandmother was holding her when the tear gas came flooding into the tent. The grandmother tried to shield the baby from the gas, but was not able to run fast enough to escape the cloud of gas that filled the area.

According to Laila’s father, the grandmother then handed Laila to Laila’s older sister, who tried to shield the baby as she ran home carrying her. When she made it inside the house, the baby was already turning blue. They rushed her to the hospital, but it was too late.

Laila was a medically fragile child who had been born with a hole in her heart. She was scheduled for surgery in October of 2018, if the condition did not resolve itself by then. Laila’s father stated that in her last checkup, the doctors indicated that the medical treatment she was undergoing appeared to be working, and the family should continue with the same treatment and Laila would likely be able to avoid surgery.

Her condition, patent ductus arteriosus, is relatively common and does not cause a patient to stop breathing without a secondary cause, according to a Harvard medical doctor who was interviewed by the New York Times about Laila’s case two days after her death.

The British news agency ‘The Guardian’ reported on May 24th, 2018 that Gaza’s Health Ministry had removed Laila’s name from the list of those killed on May 14th, pending an investigation — but there was no evidence that the Health Ministry had removed her name from any list.

The Israeli military spokesperson attempted to cast doubt on the family’s account, claiming, without evidence or investigation, two days after her death, that the baby had not died of tear gas but solely because of a pre-existing health condition.

The Israeli military offered no evidence for their version of the death of Laila, instead issuing a series of tweets that said the death of the baby was ‘Hamas propaganda’ – without backing that claim with any information or evidence.
