Among the wounded Palestinians in Gaza are 38 children and two paramedics, including a female.

In related news, the Israeli army claimed its soldiers arrested, on Friday evening, two Palestinians who reportedly crossed the perimeter fence.

According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), Israeli forces have killed 210 Palestinian civilians since the outbreak of the Great March of Return protest on March 30, 2018. In addition, nearly 14,000 Palestinians have been injured, some severely, while exercising their right to peacefully protest the siege on Gaza.

The weekly protests call for lifting the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip and for the return of the Palestinian refugees to their ancestral homes in pre-1948 Palestine.

August 28, 2019: Ala’ Ziad al-Gharabily, 32, was one of three Palestinian officers who were killed in a bombing which was carried out by two suicide bombers in Gaza.

The Interior and National Security Ministry in the Gaza Strip identified the officers as:

Lieutenant Salama Majed Nadim, 32.
Lieutenant Wael Mousa Khalifa, 45.
Deputy Officer Ala’ Ziad al-Gharabily.

It said that the three were with the local traffic and rescue police forces, and added that three others were injured.

The Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry in Gaza, Eyad el-Bozom, said the bombings were carried out by two suicide bombers, southwest of Gaza city, on Tuesday at night.

He said that two suicide bombers attacked two police checkpoints.

Two days after the attacks, Mousa Abu Marzouq, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, stated that the security forces of the Interior Ministry in Gaza arrested ten persons who are believed to be members of the cell that carried out the two bombings.

For his part, Eyad el-Bozom, the spokesperson of Gaza’s Interior Ministry, stated on Wednesday evening that the investigations are advancing and that the identity of those behind the bombing have been ascertained.

“Those behind these cowardice attacks are serving Israel’s interests,” he said, “They are trying to destabilize the Gaza Strip.”

El-Bozom also stated that the Interior Ministry will release more details of the bombing once all investigations are concluded.

In related news, the Higher Follow-Up Committee of National and Islamic Factions in Gaza, held a meeting to discuss the bombings and the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

It held Israel and its collaborators responsible for the attacks, and called on the security forces in Gaza to act fast and protect the internal front in the coastal region, especially since Israel is the first beneficiary of internal tension and instability.

August 18, 2019: Mohammad Samir at-Taramisi, 26, was one of three Palestinians who were killed near the border with Israel in northern Gaza early Sunday morning before dawn.

The three men have been identified as Mahmoud Adel al-Walayda, 24, Mohammad Farid Abu Namous, 27, and Mohammad Samir at-Taramisi, 26. All were taken to the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia where they were pronounced dead.

Israeli media reported that the Israeli military targeted a ‘Hamas observation post’ with artillery fire and a helicopter, killing three.

Palestinian sources report that the bodies of three men were recovered in the morning, along with one man who was seriously injured.

Israeli forces prevented medics from reaching the site for hours after the attack took place.

Earlier that night, Israeli sources report that three rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israel but two were intercepted by the ‘Iron Dome’ defense system, and no damage was reported.

The details of the attack are not yet clear, but the Israeli military confirmed targeting ‘Hamas infrastructure’.

Initially, the Israeli army reported killing five Palestinians who had exchanged fire with them near the border, but later changed their report to three .

In response to the attack, the spokesperson for the Hamas party, Fazi Barhoum, told reporters that this “Israeli strike is a message of escalation and aggression against the Gaza Strip in an attempt to steer attention from brave acts by Palestinians in the West Bank, actions that have embarrassed Israel and caused embarrassment in the Israeli political arena. Resistance forces in Gaza will not let the Strip become an Israeli target for settling accounts.”

Marwan Nassar

August 12, 2019: Marwan Nassar, 26, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers near the border between Gaza and Israel in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Nassar was not associated with any Palestinian resistance groups, but the Israeli paper Ha’aretz has reported that relatives of Nassar told them that he was a part of the armed wing of Hamas.

The relatives also told the Israeli paper that he was not acting as a representative of Hamas when approaching the border on Sunday, but was acting independently.

Hamas did not take responsibility for the incident.

According to Ha’aretz, the unnamed relative of Nassar told them that he had participated in the weekly protests at the Gaza border, and had been going through a rough period with his family when he decided to carry out an attack against the Israeli military.

No soldiers were reported injured in what Israeli sources claim was an attack against a military border post.

It came one day after four Palestinians were killed on the eastern border of Gaza in what Israeli forces claim was a coordinated attack against the Israeli military.

A week before that, a Palestinian man managed to infiltrate the border and injure three Israeli soldiers before he was killed.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most crowded places on earth, and the 2 million Palestinians living in the Strip are imprisoned on all sides by the Israeli and Egyptian militaries.

Abdullah Ashraf al-Ghamri

August 10, 2019: Abdullah Ashraf al-Ghamri, 19, was one of four Palestinians shot and killed by Israeli forces for allegedly coming too close to the border fence between Gaza and Israel, east of Dir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces stationed along Gaza borders to the east of Dir al-Balah reportedly opened fire on a group of Palestinians after they allegedly approached the Israeli-installed barbed-wire fence along Gaza’s border with Israel, shooting and killing four.

The Israeli army then took their corpses away to an unknown location.

A Facebook page managed by the family of one of the slain Palestinians said the four have been identified as Ahmad Ayman Tarabin, Abdullah Ismael Hamayda, Abdullah Ashraf al-Ghamri and Rashad al-Bodeini.

Israeli sources claimed that the group of Palestinians had fired toward the military base at the border, and there was an exchange of fire.

It also said the Palestinians carried AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, in addition to food.

Israeli daily Haaretz said the army is trying to determine whether the Palestinians “were planning to attack soldiers or civilians.”

The Israeli Ynetnews said that the Golani Brigades that opened fire on the Palestinians are the same Brigade that came under fire two days earlier, when two soldiers were injured.

Following the shooting of the four Palestinians, the Israeli airforce dropped bombs on what they claimed were two observation posts for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas party.

Military vehicles also invaded the area east of Dir al-Balah and began combing the area.

Israel has imposed a buffer zone inside the Gaza Strip along the border between Gaza and Israel, preventing Palestinians from reaching their lands near the border fence. It regularly opens fire at anyone who enters that buffer zone.

In a fact sheet about Israeli attacks on border areas and their consequences, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said, “preventing Palestinians from accessing their lands and fishing areas violates numerous provisions of international human rights law, including the right to work, the right to an adequate standard of living, and the right to the highest attainable standard of health.”
