Fadi Mohammad Ghattas

Fadi GhattasSeptember 02, 2022: Fadi Mohammad Fayez Ghattas, 19, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers after an alleged stabbing attack targeting soldiers, near Beit Einoun village junction, northeast of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

The young man was shot with live fire before the soldiers closed the entire area and prevented Palestinian medics from approaching him while he bled. The soldiers took him to a hospital in occupied Jerusalem, where he was pronounced dead.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired several live rounds at the young man from a close range, even after he fell to the ground.

They added that the soldiers also fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at Palestinians who tried to reach him.

The soldiers then called for an Israeli ambulance that arrived later while he continued to bleed on the ground.

The Israeli occupation army claimed the young stabbed and moderately injured a soldier near Kiryat Arba’ colony before another soldier opened fire and “neutralized him.”
Israeli Paramedics and army medical personnel provided treatment to the wounded soldiers before moving him to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. They said the soldier was fully conscious.

The army alleged that, according to its initial investigation, Fadi got out of a car and walked towards the soldiers before approaching one of them and stabbing him in the neck.

After the fatal shooting, dozens of Palestinians marched in the area, chanting against the illegal Israeli occupation, its colonies, and escalating Israeli violations.

Commenting on how he was informed of his son’s death, Mohammad Ghattas said:

“I returned from work before the wife told me that an Israeli intelligence officer phoned our home and informed her that my brother Mahmoud and I have been summoned for interrogation at Etzion military base.

“After heading there, an officer asked me about my son and if I knew where he was and what he was wearing when he left home before showing me a picture of him after he was shot and covered in his own blood.

“They executed my son. I asked them why they didn’t just shoot him in the legs to incapacitate him, and why they had to deliver fatal shots, but they never answered my questions.”

Yazan Naim Affana

September 01, 2022: Yazan Naim Affana, 24, was killed by Israeli soldiers in the Al-Biereh city in the Ramallah and Al-Biereh governorate, in the central part of the occupied West Bank.

Many army jeeps invaded the city, leading to protests before the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

Medical sources said the soldiers shot Yazan with live fire in the heart while the army withdrew from Um ash-Sharayet neighborhood in Al-Biereh city.

The soldiers also invaded and ransacked many homes and buildings and abducted a young man.

Also, the Israeli soldiers fatally shot Samer Mahmoud Suleiman Khaled, 25, in front of the main entrance of Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Mohammad Marzouq Arayshy

IbrahimAugust 23, 2022: Mohammad Marzouq Arayshy, 25, died of wounds sustained when he was shot and seriously injured two weeks earlier in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

The funeral procession started in front of Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, before the Palestinians marched to Nablus’s Old City to his home, before heading to the Shuhada graveyard.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammad was seriously injured on August 9th, 2022, when the Israeli army initiated a massive offensive into Nablus, killing three Palestinians and wounding at least 40.

In addition, the Israeli army fired many live rounds at Palestinian ambulances, prevented many medics from entering the areas it was invading, and later published a propaganda picture claiming the ambulance “was being used to shelter those throwing stones at the soldiers.”

However, a video from the scene shows the medics and a few Palestinians trying to get the seriously wounded young man into the ambulance so that it can speed up to the hospital.

Due to ongoing protests, the medics loaded the seriously wounded Palestinian as fast as possible, and the soldiers were still firing at the protesters.

Salah Tawfiq Sawafta

August 19, 2022: Salah Tawfiq Sawafta, 58, was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers and killed as he was leaving the mosque after morning prayers in Tubas, in the northeastern West Bank.

Salah was rushed to a local hospital and was admitted to surgery but succumbed to his serious wounds, especially since the soldiers shot him with a live round in the head.

Medical sources said the soldiers had invaded Tubas and were in the midst of attacking protesters with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades, when Salah exited the mosque following dawn prayers. The soldiers fired live ammunition at his head, causing a critical head wound.

Palestinian medics provided the urgently needed treatment to the injured man before rushing him to a hospital due to the seriousness of his concision.

Local sources said the family was preparing to celebrate his daughter’s wedding scheduled to be held on August 26th.

According to field investigations and an eyewitness’s statement to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR)’s fieldworker, at approximately 05:45 on Friday, 19 August 2022, Israeli forces moved into Tubas city, where Israeli snipers topped the roof of the 4-storey public prosecution building that is located on the left side of the city’s main street.

Afterwards, Israeli forces cordoned off a house located next to the family house of Akram Hakam Jum’a al-Kharraz (20), a student at the American University in Jenin, while Palestinian worshipers were leaving the Old Mosque in al-Kharraz neighborhood in central Tubas, amidst IOF’s sporadic shooting.

At that moment, Salah Tawfiq Mohammed Sawafta (58), who was wearing a traditional jalabiya, rushed out of an alley into the main street and then headed to al-Sarraj bakery in the area, which is about 150 meters away from the building, where IOF are stationed.

Before Sawafta’s arrival at the bakery, an Israeli sniper stationed onto the roof of the public prosecution’s building opened fire at him and wounded him with a live bullet in the right side of his forehead. As a result, Sawafta fell on his left side.

Afterwards, a Palestinian ambulance arrived and took him to Tubas Turkish Hospital that referred him to Rafidia Governmental Hospital in Nablus due to his serious condition.

At approximately 11:20, medical sources announced Sawafta’s death, succumbing to his serious wound. Before their withdrawal, Isreali forces raided and searched Akran Kharraz’s house and arrested him.

A footage captured by a surveillance camera fixed in the area showed Sawafta walked alone on the side of the road and rushed to take cover inside the bakery, as gunshots could be heard, before falling to the ground at the bakery entrance.

PCHR’s investigations affirm that there were no events or movements in the alley, from which Sawafta exited, and in the area, where he was wounded. This means that IOF’s shooting at Sawafta was without justification, although the soldiers stationed in the building were in plain sight.

PCHR reiterates its call upon the international community to take immediate action to end Israeli occupation’s crimes and double standards when it comes to international law.

The soldiers also shot a young man with a live round in the thigh during protests that took place after the army invaded Tammoun town, south of Tubas.

The soldiers stormed and ransacked many homes in Tubas, and in Tammoun town before abducting five Palestinians.

Kamal Bani Odah, the head of the Tubas office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS), said the soldiers abducted Ma’moun Na’im Abu Odah, Mustafa Bani Odah, in addition to Moath and his brother Ayed Farhan Bani Odah, from Tammoun, and a college student Akaram Hakam al-Kharraz from his home on Tubas.

Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa

WasimAugust 18, 2022: Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa, 18, was shot and killed by Israeli forces who were invading the Balata refugee camp, which was Wasim’s home. The soldiers also injured at least 36 others, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds, in Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Ahmad Jibril, the spokesperson of the Nablus office of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), said the soldiers killed Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa, 18, from Balata refugee camp, after shooting him with two live rounds in the upper chest, including one to the heart. The medics rushed Wasim to the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, but he succumbed to his serious wounds despite all efforts to save his life.

Jibril added that the soldiers also shot three young men with live rounds  in the chest, neck area and the abdomen, causing life-threatening wounds, in addition to one who was shot with a high-velocity gas bomb to the chest, and were all rushed to local hospitals, and 27 who suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation who received treatment by PRCS medics.

Most of the Palestinians who suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation are children, including infants, who were injured while in their homes due to the intensity of the Israeli fire.

The Israeli invasions targeted many areas in Nablus, including the main invasion into Joseph’s Tomb area, Amman Street, Balata refugee camp and many surrounding communities.

Palestinian resistance fighters also exchanged fire with the soldiers invading the Joseph Tomb area, Amman Street, in addition to Askar and Balata refugee camp.

Ibrahim Milhem, the spokesperson of the Palestinian Government, denounced the killing of the Palestinian teen in Nablus, and the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people across occupied Palestine, and denounced the international silence and complicity, and those who justify the Israeli crimes.

Media sources said dozens of soldiers in many armored vehicles and troop carriers accompanied several buses transporting illegal colonizers into Joseph’s Tomb area in the eastern part of the city, leading to protests.

They added that the army fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs, causing dozens of Palestinians to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The invasions and protests mainly took place in the Amman Street area near Askar and Balata refugee camps.

It is worth mentioning that the army frequently invades the eastern area of Nablus to accompany the colonists into the historic site, an issue that leads to protests, in addition to the ongoing invasions of homes and the abduction of many Palestinians.

Joseph the patriarch is revered by Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Samaritans alike, however, the Israeli military allows Jews to visit as part of organized pilgrimages, despite the site being in Area A where the PA has full control and prohibits Muslims from worshiping at the site.

Ultra-orthodox and nationalist Jews regularly try to visit the shrine without approval, as many Jews believe the tomb to be the final resting place of the biblical figure in the Old Testament.

Palestinians believe that Joseph’s Tomb is the funerary monument to Sheikh Yousif Dweikat, a local religious figure.

The Palestinian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the killing of the young man and said the attack was “part of Israel’s ongoing crimes and field executions carried out against the Palestinian people, under direct orders from its military and the political leaderships.”

It called on the United Nations to act and provide the Palestinian people with urgently needed international protection and vowed to submit another complaint to the International Criminal Court.

The Ministry called on the International Community to end its idleness and silence and to act to hold Israel accountable for its ongoing illegal occupation and its escalating crimes.

Rafiq Riyad Ghannam

July 06, 2022: Rafiq Riyad Ghanem, 20, was killed by Israeli soldiers who also shot at least another Palestinian in Jaba’ town, south of Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Medical sources said Ghanem was shot and seriously injured by Israeli army fire before the soldiers took him away without allowing Palestinian medics to approach him.

The Israeli District Coordination office later contacted the Palestinian side and informed them that the young man had succumbed to his serious wounds.

Ghanem was shot near his home when the army invaded the town and fired many live rounds, gas bombs, and rubber-coated steel bullets at Palestinian protesters.

He wasn’t participating in protests when the soldiers shot him; his mother said he was wearing shorts and a tank top when he stepped out of the family home minutes before being shot.

Rafiq is the brother of political prisoner Ayham Ghannam, who was recently abducted by the Israeli army, and is still under interrogation, and former political prisoner Mohammad Ghannam.

His uncle, Hani Ghanem, is also a former political prisoner who was imprisoned by Israel for eighteen years, while his aunt, Ni’ma Ghanem, was killed by the Israeli twenty years earlier, and his grandfather was killed in the year 1948.

Hani said that Rafiq heard a sound near his home and went out to see what was going on before the undercover soldiers, standing at a distance behind him, shot him with two live rounds.

The soldiers also invaded Jenin city and the Jenin refugee camp before undercover officers, driving a car with Palestinian license plates, abducted a former political prisoner, Amid al-Isran, from the refugee camp.

The undercover officers fired a barrage of live rounds at random while withdrawing from the refugee camp and handed Amid to soldiers who forced him in a military vehicle and sped away.

Also, Mousa Khatib said the undercover officers shot his son Fadi Khatib, 20, a former political prisoner who Israel imprisoned for 18 months while standing in front of his home, causing a moderate injury to his leg.

Rafiq is the fourth Palestinian to be killed by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank in the first six days of July.

On Tuesday, July 05, 2022: the soldiers killed Ahmad Harb Ayyad, 32, after they assaulted him and repeatedly struck him with batons when he and other workers tried to cross through a breach of the illegal Annexation Wall, in Tulkarem, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Ahmad Harb Ayyad

July 05, 2022: Ahmad Harb Ayyad, 32, was killed by Israeli soldiers who assaulted and repeatedly struck him when he and other workers tried to cross through a breach of the illegal Annexation Wall, in Tulkarem, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

The slain man was from the besieged and impoverished Gaza Strip but had been living in the West Bank and was working in construction inside the Green Line to support his family.

The Israeli soldiers also fired many live rounds and gas bombs at Palestinian workers in the same area, wounding one.

The Ayyad family in Gaza said Israel informed them about their son’s death and added that the Israeli occupation authorities allowed the transfer of his corpse to them through the Erez (Beit Hanoun) Terminal in northern Gaza.

His funeral procession was held, on Tuesday morning, at a local mosque in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza before being buried at the Shuhada Graveyard, east of Gaza.

The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions issued a statement denouncing the Israeli crime and said that Ahmad is not the first worker to be killed by the Israeli occupation army, in addition to the hundreds who have been shot and injured and those who have been abducted and imprisoned.

The Federation added that many workers from the Gaza Strip have to leave their homes and families in the impoverished region to look for work in the West Bank or Israel and face constant violations.

It called on the International Labor Organization to intervene and ensure Israel abides by International Law and stops its deadly violations against the Palestinian workers.

The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also denounced the worker’s killing and described it as an execution.

It called on the International Community to hold Israel accountable for its violations against the Palestinian civilians and to act on ending the illegal occupation.

He was a high school student taking final exams, including an exam scheduled for Monday, July 4.

After his death, thousands of Palestinians marched in his funeral procession in front of Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in the town and chanted against the escalating Israeli violations in occupied Palestine before burying him at the local cemetery.

On Saturday, July 2, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that the Palestinian woman, Sa’diyya Farajallah, 68, the oldest female detainee imprisoned by Israel, died in an Israeli prison less than seven months after Israeli soldiers abducted her.
