October 28, 2022: Emad Abu Rashid, 47, was killed by Israeli soldiers who invaded an area near the Huwwara military roadblock south of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.
Palestinian sources said the soldiers fired many live rounds at random, hitting several vehicles.
The Health Ministry said Emad, a lieutenant with the Palestinian Civil Defense, was killed after the soldiers shot him with several bullets in the abdomen and the head.
The Ministry added that the soldiers first shot Ramzi Sami Zabara, 35, in the heart, inflicting serious wounds that resulted in his death despite all efforts to save his life.
It also said that another wounded Palestinian suffered serious wounds and is currently in stable condition after surgery.
The two slain Palestinians were members of the Palestinian Civil Defense that provides emergency services to the Palestinians, including medical, firefighting and rescue operations and training
Palestinian medics rushed to the area, but the soldiers refused to allow them to provide any treatment the seriously wounded Palestinians.
The medics were later allowed to take the Palestinians to a hospital in Nablus, where the doctors tried to save their lives, but they succumbed to their wounds.
The Israeli army claimed that, about an hour earlier, Palestinian fighters fired several live rounds at the Huwwara roadblock and sped away, adding that the soldiers were looking for two Palestinian cars believed to be involved in the shooting.
The Israeli army said the shooting did not lead to any injuries and added that the soldiers initiated a search campaign in the area before locating several backpacks believed to have been used by the Palestinian resistance fighters.
The army added that the soldiers “shot four Palestinians, including one who was shot in the thigh before the soldiers arrested him.”
The two slain Palestinians, and the wounded, were just driving in the through the area when the army fired the live rounds at them.
