Yousef Abu ‘Athra

March 22, 2017: Yousef Sha’ban Abu ‘Athra, 16, was killed by Israeli soldiers who fired shells and live rounds into Palestinian lands in Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Two other Palestinians suffered moderate-to-severe injuries from the attack. The Israeli army claimed it opened fire on Palestinians who aroused suspicion by heading towards the border fence. Following the attack, Israeli tanks carried out a limited invasion into Palestinian lands, close to the fence. In a press release, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said several civilians intended to sneak into Israel for work when the army fired artillery shells, one striking the child to the upper part of his body. Samed Abu Shanab


February 16, 2017
: Samed Fathi Abu Shanab, 29, died from serious wounds he suffered in 2005 after Israeli soldiers shot him in the back near a former settlement in the Gaza Strip, causing paralysis and various complications, including kidney failure. He was later moved to an Egyptian hospital and died from his wounds while awaiting a kidney transplant surgery. Samed was from Khan Younis. Source: IMEMC

: Husam Hameed Soufi, 24, was killed by Israeli missiles while he was working in a siege-busting border tunnel, in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Mohammad Anwar al-Aqra’, 38, was also killed in the strike, while at least five Palestinians were injured and buried under the rubble.

The two Palestinians were workers trying to support their families amidst the ongoing Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip. Husam was from Rafah. Source: IMEMC

November 18, 2016: Mohammad Sa’id Abu Sa’da, 25, was killed by Israeli army fire east of the al-Boreij refugee camp in central Gaza, after the soldiers, stationed on military towers across the border fence, opened fire on Palestinian protesters, killing the young man and wounding at least three others. Mohammad was from the Nusseirat refugee camp, northeast of Deir Al-Balah. Source: IMEMC

: Mahmoud Jamal Jouda, 23, was shot in the spine by Israeli soldiers flying a helicopter over Ramallah during protests in 2007, when he was 14 years old, the bullet caused paraylsis and various health complications that eventually lead to his death while receiving treatment at a Palestinian hospital in Jerusalem after his leg was amputated. Source: IMEMC

: Abdullah Nasser Abu Medhyef, 10, was killed by Israeli army fire when soldiers stationed across the border fence opened fire onto an area east of al-Qarara town, northeast of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army issued a statement denying any involvement in the shooting, while eyewitnesses and the ministry of health confirmed the shots came from the Israeli side. Source: IMEMC

Ahmad As’ad Meit, 30, was killed by after inhaling toxic chemical from an Israeli missile that was dropped during the 2014 war on Gaza, while he and three other explosives’ experts were trying to defuse it, after locating it under the rubble of one of the destroyed buildings.
