May 14, 2018: Ezzedeen Mousa al-Samak, 14, was one of 60 Palestinians killed during a protest against the U.S. moving its Embassy to Jerusalem on Monday May 14^th, 2018. The protest also focused on commemorating the 70^th anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe), when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their homes for the creation of the state of Israel – creating the largest refugee population on earth, many of whom remain in exile generations later.

Ezzedeen was killed with a live bullet to the upper limbs , according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that Israeli soldiers killed 60 Palestinians on Monday, May 14th, 2018, including an eight month old baby, 6 children and four officers of the Ministry of Interior and National Security, in the Gaza Strip, and injured more than 2700.

The Ministry of Interior and National Security said among the slain Palestinians are four of its officers.

Among the slain Palestinians are an eight month old baby, six children, including one girl, and among the wounded are 122 children, and 44 women.

27 of the wounded Palestinians suffered very serious wounds, 59 serious injuries, 735 moderate wounds, and 882 suffered light wounds.

772 of the wounded Palestinians were shot with live rounds, three with rubber-coated steel bullets, 91 with shrapnel, 100 cuts and bruises and 737 suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

65 of the wounded were shot in the head and neck, 116 in their arms, 48 in the chest and back, 651 in the lower extremities, 52 in several parts of their bodies and 737 suffered the effects of teargas inhalation.

The soldiers also caused damage to at least one ambulance and injured one medic and eleven journalists.

In addition, the Health Ministry called on Egypt to urgently send emergency medical supplies and specialists, mainly surgeons, intensive care physicians, anesthesia specialists, and to allow the transfer of a large number of the wounded to Egyptian hospitals, especially those indeed of urgent surgeries, since Gaza hospitals lack the needed supplies due to the siege on the coastal region.

May 12, 2018: Jamal Abdul-Rahman Affana, 15, died, on Saturday evening, from serious wounds he suffered Friday, when Israeli soldiers shot him in the head.

Jamal was shot with a gas bomb in the head near Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, during the Great Return March.

The gas bomb directly struck the child in his head, causing a very serious injury, and he remained in critical condition until he died from his wounds the next day.

On the same day of his injury, the soldiers killed one Palestinian, identified as Jaber Salem Abu Mustafa, 40, after shooting him with a live round in the chest, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers also injured 448 Palestinians, including 112 who were shot with live fire, among them seven in serious condition, and four of whom were directly shot with gas bombs.

April 29, 2018: Yousef Jasser Abu Jazar, 16, was killed by Israeli soldiers stationed on the Gaza border when he and two other Palestinians were allegedly seen trying to damage the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

The al-Mezan Center for Human Rights reported that the three Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire Sunday, and added that the soldiers also abducted three other Palestinians a day earlier.

In addition to Yousef, the other two slain Palestinians were identified as Atiya Mohammad al-‘Ammawi, 20, and Yousef Ahmad al-‘Ammawi, 18, from Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army is holding their corpses and is refusing to transfer them back to their families for burial.

In addition, three Palestinians, identified as Ahmad Sami al-Ammawi, 26, Salim Younis Abu Thaher, 21, and Ibrahim Nabil Abu ‘Eid, were taken prisoner by the soldiers, on Saturday, after they reportedly crossed the border fence.

On the following day, on April 30^th, Israeli soldiers shot a young Palestinian man with live fire in Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis, and another young man east of the al-Boreij refugee camp in central Gaza, and two others east of Gaza City.

According to a statement issued by the Israeli army, the soldiers killed the three Palestinians in two separate incidents along the Gaza-Israel border, and arrested another Palestinian who was taken for interrogation.

Quoting a statement by the spokesperson of the Israeli army, Israeli daily Haaretz said the soldiers “shot two Palestinians, after they tried to cause damage to the border fence, killing one of them, and arresting the other.”

The Israeli paper added that in the second incident, Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinians reportedly after they “managed to cross the border fence and hurl firebombs at the army.” No Israeli soldiers were wounded.

The soldiers also detained two Palestinians in a third incident after they reportedly “tried to damage the border fence with tools they carried,” in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Prior to the death of the three Palestinians, the Health Ministry had reported that Israeli soldiers have killed 44 Palestinians, including five children, and injured around 7000, including many who suffered life-threatening wounds, sine the “Great March of Return” protests started in the Gaza Strip on the Palestinian Land Day, March 30, 2018.

April 28, 2018: Azzam Hilal Oweida, 14, was killed by Israeli forces east of Gaza City, who shot him in the head during the fifth Friday of protests for the ‘Great March of Return’.

Azzam was one of four Palestinians killed by Israeli snipers during protests on April 27^th . The snipers fired live ammunition indiscriminately at the unarmed crowds of protesters, according to eyewitnesses.

Azzam died in the pre-dawn hours Saturday morning, of a serious gunshot wound received Friday when an Israeli army sharpshooter shot him with a live round in the head, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that Israeli soldiers killed four young Palestinians, including Azzam, a 14-year old child, on April 27^th, and injured more than 995, including at least 178 who were shot with live fire.

In addition to Azzam, the the soldiers also killed Abdul-Salam Bakr, 29, from Khuza’a town, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, Mohammad Amin Al-Moqyd, 21, from Gaza City, and Khalil Na’im Atallah, 22, also from Gaza City.

According to Ashraf al-Qidra of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 18 medics and medical personnel were among those wounded on Friday.

Al-Qidra added that Israeli forces specifically targeted medical service points twice with an unidentified gas east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. This appeared to be a new type of gas that caused those who inhaled it to suffer from severe convulsions. A number of these victims had to be hospitalized.

175 of the wounded Palestinians were injured in Northern Gaza, 251 in Gaza city area, 200 in Central Gaza, 146 in Khan Younis and 183 in Rafah.

On Friday night, Israeli war jets fired missiles at a site that they claimed was run by a Palestinian resistance group, west of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

The army also fired missiles at two Palestinian fishing boats in Gaza port. Media sources in Gaza said the boats are parts of preparations for welcoming an upcoming flotilla to challenge the illegal Israeli siege on Gaza.

The ongoing ‘Great Return March’ protests which started on Palestinian Land Day (March 30th) are meant to bring attention to the fact that millions of Palestinians are imprisoned in the Gaza Strip, unable to return to their homes in what is now Israel. Palestinians make up the largest refugee population on earth.

Israeli troops again opened fire on the unarmed protesters, as they have done each Friday since the protests began on March 30th.

Since March 30th, Israeli forces have killed 44 Palestinian protesters, and wounded more than five thousand.

An international outcry against the continued shooting of civilian protesters has included political leaders, politicians, grassroots leaders and humanitarian organizations around the world. But this outcry has not reached the US, where politicians have been largely silent on the issue.

Irish and South African politicians have been leading the call for justice for Palestinians, calling the Israeli government an ‘apartheid state’ much like South Africa in the 1980s.

In response to Israel’s fifth straight week of attacking unarmed demonstrators at the border, the UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, issued a statement that, “The loss of life is deplorable, and the staggering number of injuries caused by live ammunition only confirms the sense that excessive force has been used against demonstrators – not once, not twice, but repeatedly.”

April 20, 2018: Mohammad Ibrahim Ayyoub, 15, from Jabalia in northern Gaza, was shot by Israeli soldiers with an expanding bullet in the head while participating in a non-violent protest against the Israeli siege on Gaza.

Mohammad was one of four Palestinians killed on Friday, in the fourth straight week of Friday protests known as the “Great Return March”. Each week since March 30^th, thousands of Palestinians have gathered at the border between Gaza and Israel, demanding an end to the decade-long siege.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that Israeli soldiers shot and killed, Friday, four Palestinians, including one child, and injured more than 729, including 24 children and twelve women, after the army resorted to the excessive use of force against protesters, on their lands, near the border fence, in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In addition to Mohammad, the soldiers shot and killed Ahmad Rashad al-Athamna, 24, from Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, after shooting him with a live round in his neck, east of nearby Jabalia.

The soldiers also killed Ahmad Nabil Aqel, 25, after shooting him with an expanding bullet in the head, east of Jabalia, in northern Gaza. He was first shot in his leg, received the needed treatment, and returned to the protests, before being killed by Israeli army fire.

In addition, the soldiers killed Sa’ad Abdul-Majid Abu Taha, 29, from al-Qarara town, northeast of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, after shooting him with a live round in his neck.

The Health Ministry also stated that the soldiers shot more than 729 Palestinians, including 174 who were rushed to local hospitals, and at least three who suffered life-threatening wounds, and 271 who received treatment in make-shift field clinics. 156 of the wounded were shot with live fire.

One of the wounded is a medic, who suffered a very serious injury, in addition to two journalists. Ninety Palestinians suffered moderate wounds.

The Ministry stated that eighteen of the wounded Palestinians were shot in the neck and head, 26 in the chest and back, twelve in the pelvis and abdomen, and 154 were shot in their legs.

Furthermore, eighty-six Palestinians suffered the effects of teargas inhalation; 29 were injured by shrapnel; five were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and 29 sustained cuts and bruises.

The army also fired many gas bombs at a Palestinian ambulance east of Gaza city.

The protests started on March 30th, which marks the Palestinian Land Day, and are planned to continue until May 15th, the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe), in which more than 700,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced by Israeli forces in 1948, and their villages and towns were destroyed, prior to the establishment of Israel in historic Palestine.

The Israeli army killed at least 34 Palestinians, and injured thousands or protesters since the nonviolent protests started on March 30th.

April 20^th, 2018 marked the fourth Friday of the massive nonviolent protests in Gaza, during which thousands of Palestinian refugees have taken to the heavily militarized borders with Israel to demand their collective right of return to their homelands.

The six-week protest is set to end on May 15th, the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, or “catastrophe,” when the state of Israel was created, leaving some 750,000 Palestinians and millions of their descendants as refugees.

Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Palestinian Observer at the United Nations, sent three identical letters to the United Nations Secretary General, the head of the Security Council and the head of the General Assembly, informing them of the latest Israeli violations and the excessive use of force against unarmed Palestinian civilians.

He called on the International Community to provide the urgently-needed protection to the Palestinian people, facing serious Israeli military escalation and crimes, and urging them to oblige Israel to respect International Law and the Four Geneva Convention.

The Palestinian official said that peace and security around the world start with justice, and implementing International Law, by holding those who violate it accountable for their crimes.

“For the fourth consecutive week, Israel continues the excessive and lethal use of force against Palestinians participating in the nonviolent Great March of Return, especially in the Gaza Strip,” Mansour said, “Israel is shooting Palestinian women, children and the elderly, and is escalating its violations against them. These serious violations must stop; Israel should not be allowed to continue its breaches on International Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.”

Despite widespread outcry from international rights groups who have condemned Israel’s excessive use of forces against the civilian protesters, Israeli has maintained its open-fire rules for the Gaza border, ordering its soldiers to “shoot to kill” any Palestinian, even children, who enter the ‘no-go’ zone near the border.

April 6, 2018: Ala’ Yahya az-Zamily, 17, was killed by the Israeli military on Friday April 6^th, 2018. He was among seven Palestinians, including one child, killed by Israeli forces during protests at the Gaza-Israel border. In addition to those killed, 992 others were injured in several parts of the coastal region. An eighth Palestinian died from serious wounds suffered last Friday.

The soldiers killed Ala’ Yahya az-Zamily, 17, after shooting him with a live round in his neck, east of Rafah.

Mohammad Sa’id Mousa al-Hajj Saleh, 33, from Rafah, in southern Gaza Strip, was shot with live Israeli army fire in the abdomen and chest, east of the city, during evening hours.

The Ministry stated that the child, identified as Hussein Mohammad Madhi, 16, was killed by Israeli army fire, on Friday evening, east of Gaza city.

Another Palestinian, identified as Sidqi Faraj Abu ‘Oteiwi, 45, from Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza, was also killed by Israeli army fire.

Also, the soldiers killed Ibrahim al-‘Orr, 20, in central Gaza.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza, said the soldiers shot 1070 Palestinians, 551 of them were rushed to the make-shift clinics on Palestinian lands hundreds of meters away from the border fence.

He added that 442 wounded Palestinians were rushed to governmental hospitals, and 77 to private hospitals. Among the injured are 48 children, and 12 women.

25 Palestinians suffered life-threatening injuries, and 239 suffered moderate wounds, in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers also continued to deliberately target the Palestinian medic, and their ambulance, especially east of Rafah, with Gaza bombs, wounding seven of them.

In addition, the Health Ministry and the Red Crescent in Gaza have confirmed that the soldiers killed Majdi Ramadan Shbat, 38, east of Gaza city, after shooting him with a live round in the neck, while Osama Khamis Qdeih, 38, from Abasan al-Kabeera town, east of Khan Younis, was also killed by army fire.

On Friday morning, the Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that a young man, identified as Tha’er Mohammad Rabe’a, 30, died from serious wounds he suffered when Israeli soldiers shot him with live fire, last Friday March 30th, in northern Gaza.

The Health Ministry and the Red Crescent in Gaza has confirmed that the soldiers killed Majdi Ramadan Shbat, 38, east of Gaza city, after shooting him with a live round in the neck.

The Israeli army fired long-range gas bombs that reached the make-shift field hospitals.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza confirmed that the soldiers killed Osama Khamis Qdeih, 38, from Abasan al-Kabeera town, east of Khan Younis.

He added that Qdeih died from serious wounds he suffered after the soldiers shot him with live fire, east of Khan Younis.

One of the wounded Palestinians is a journalist, identified as Yasser Mortaja, who was shot with a life round in his chest, while a female journalist, identified as Islam Za’noun, suffered the effects of teargas inhalation, despite wearing clearly marked press vests; both were injured east of Khan Younis.

The soldiers were witnessed deliberately firing a barrage of gas bombs, including high velocity, long range bombs, at crowds of protesters, in addition to firing many live rounds at them.

The soldiers also targeted many journalists with live fire and gas bombs, including during live coverage by the al-Mayadeen TV.

Furthermore, the army used planes and drones in firing a barrage of gas bombs at the Palestinians even in areas not close to the border fence.

Dozens of Palestinians suffered the severe effects of teargas inhalation and received the needed treatment in make-shift hospitals near the border fence, across the eastern part of the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers also targeted dozens of medics with gas bombs, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza, wounding many of them.

The Palestinians burnt dozens of tires near the border fence, in order to cloud the vision of the soldiers, especially the sharpshooters, who barricaded themselves behind huge sand hills across the border fence.

The army also used planes to extinguish the burnt tires, in addition to using water hoses and even fans to send the smoke back to the Palestinian side.

In related news, the soldiers shot three Palestinians, including one who suffered a head injury, in Ramallah, in central West Bank.

The soldiers also injured many Palestinians in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

He was among seven Palestinians, including one child, killed by Israeli forces during protests at the Gaza-Israel border.
