October 17, 2018: Naji Jamal Mohammad Za’anin, 25, was killed when the Israeli missiles struck a site in Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza.

The Israeli airforce dropped bombs in several parts of Gaza Wednesday morning, wounding 14 Palestinians in addition to killing Za’anin, including six schoolchildren, in Deir al-Balah city, in central Gaza, before they were rushed to the Al-Aqsa Hospital.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said the army targeted three of its centers in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

The first center, Abu Jarad, south of Gaza city, and the second, al-Waha, west of Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, and the third in the Zeitoun neighborhood, in the center of Gaza city.

The army later fired more missiles into areas in Rafah, in southern Gaza, and another site of the al-Qassam Brigades in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. In addition, the Israeli Air Force fired missiles into agricultural lands in the az-Zanna area, in Bani Suheila town, east of Khan Younis, and a near the seaport, west of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.

For its part, Egypt started contacting Palestinian officials in Gaza, and Israeli officials, in an attempt to mediate an prevent a further escalation in the area.

The bombs were dropped on Gaza after unknown Palestinians fired a rocket into Israel Wednesday morning, causing no injuries.

Abu Mujahed, the spokesperson of the Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza, said in a statement that no Palestinian resistance groups were involved in the firing of the rocket – and that all the armed Palestinian resistance groups are always willing to claim responsibility if they ever do fire rockets.

The statement was made after discussions with the representatives of all the Palestinian armed resistance groups.

Saddam Abu Shallash

October 16, 2018: Saddam Abu Shallash, 27, died of critical wounds sustained the previous day when he was shot by Israeli forces in northern Gaza, while participating in the March of Return at the Gaza-Israel border.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip reported that Saddam was shot with live Israeli army fire, near Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza, and was rushed to surgery, and then to intensive care, but succumbed to his wounds the next day.

It is worth mentioning that Saddam was the brother of Sharif Abu Shallash, 28, who was killed by Israeli soldiers on December 23rd 2017.

On Tuesday evening, Palestinian medical sources said the army shot two young men, east of Deir al-Balah city, in central Gaza.

On Monday, Israeli navy and soldiers shot 32 Palestinians with live fire, in addition to causing dozens to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation, during protest against the ongoing siege on Gaza.

Elias Saleh Yassin

October 15, 2018: Elias Saleh Yassin, 22, was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier near an illegal Israeli colony, north of Salfit, in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian was shot dead by soldiers stationed at the “Gitai” Junction, close to Ariel illegal colony.

The Israeli army said the soldiers shot and killed Elias “before he was able to attack any of them”. But they presented no evidence that the Palestinian had any weapon or that he posed any danger to the soldiers. No soldiers were injured.

The army spokesperson added that two soldiers constantly guard the site of the reported attack, and added that one of them was the person who killed the Palestinian.

A Palestinian ambulance rushed to the scene, but the soldiers stopped it, and prevented the medics from approaching.

The head of the “Samaria Regional Council” of settlements, Yossi Dagan, arrived on the scene, and said that “the soldiers’ vigilance managed to foil the attempted attack,” and added that Israel’s colonies in the West Bank, will be expanded.

Elias is from the same village where Aisha ar-Rabi, 47, lived before she was killed, late on Friday, October 12, 2018, and her husband, Yacoub, was injured, near the Za’tara military roadblock, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, when a group of Israeli colonialist settlers came onto the road and began throwing rocks at their car.

The area is also close to Industrial Zone of Barkan colony, where two Israeli settlers, identified as Ziv Hagbi, 35, and Kim Levengrond Yehezkel, 28, were killed on October 7th 2018.

On Friday, Israeli soldiers killed seven Palestinians, and injured 252, including 50 children, 10 woman and one journalist, after the army fired dozens of live rounds, in addition to high-velocity gas bombs, during the Great Return March processions, in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

On the same day, a group of Israeli paramilitary settlers attacked a Palestinian couple south of Nablus, in the northern part of the West Bank, on Friday, killing the woman and injuring her husband.

October 12, 2018: Aisha Mohammed Talal al-Rabi, 47, was killed by a group of Israeli paramilitary settlers, who used large rocks to attack the car she was riding in with her husband. Aisha was killed and her husband injured in the attack, which took place south of Nablus, in the northern part of the West Bank.

Aisha, a mother of eight children, was riding in a car with her husband near the Za’tara roadblock,  south of Nablus, in the northern part of the West Bank, when a group of Israeli settlers came onto the road and began throwing rocks at their car.

The Israeli colonial settlers threw a number of large rocks, breaking the windshield of the car. They then continued to throw rocks, according to local sources, hitting the couple in the head and upper body.

One of the big rocks thrown by the illegal colonists at the car, smashed the windshield and struck her in the cheek and ear; she bled for about two minutes and died from her wounds.

Aisha and her husband were returning home after visiting one of their daughters, who is married and living in Hebron, in the southern part of the West Bank.

Another of the couple’s daughters was preparing to be married in the coming weeks.

Armed Israeli paramilitary settlers have launched a number of attacks on the  Palestinian civilian population in the Nablus area, with the number of attacks drastically increasing since two Israeli settlers were killed by a Palestinian in the area on Monday.

It is worth mentioning that, on September 12th, 1999, Aisha’s brother, Fawzat Mohammad Bolad, was killed by Israeli soldiers in Kharbatha village, west of Ramallah, just hours before his wedding, when he was heading to Ramallah to finalize preparations for his wedding.

October 12, 2018: Tamer Eyad Mahmoud Abu ‘Armana, 22, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers who fired live ammunition at Palestinian protesters in Gaza.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed that Israeli soldiers killed, Friday, seven Palestinians, and injured 252, including 50 children, 10 women and one journalist, after the army fired dozens of live rounds, in addition to high-velocity gas bombs, during the Great Return March processions, in several parts of the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesperson of the Health Ministry in Gaza said the soldiers also targeted a medical post, east of the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza wounding two medics.

Dr. al-Qedra added that 154 of the wounded Palestinians were shot with live Israeli army fire, and were rushed to local hospitals in the Coastal Region.

He said that the soldiers killed the following Palestinians at protests on October 12, 2018:

  1. Mohammad Issam Mohammad Abbas, 21, from Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza.
  2. Ahmad Ibrahim Zaki Taweel, 27, from the Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza.
  3. Ahmad Ahmad ِAbdullah Abu Na’im, 17, from the Nusseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza.
  4. Mohammad Abdul-Hafith Yousef Ismael, 29, from the al-Boreij refugee camp, in central Gaza.
  5. Afifi Mahmoud Ata Afifi, 18, from Gaza city.
  6. Abdullah Barham Suleiman ad-Daghma, 25, from Abasan al-Jadeeda in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza Strip.
  7. Tamer Eyad Mahmoud Abu ‘Armana, 22, from Rafah, in southern Gaza Strip.

It is worth mentioning that Abdullah has two brothers who were killed by the Israeli army; Suleiman was killed in 2005, while Bassam was killed in 2011.

The seven were all killed at protests – an estimated 14,000 protesters gathered along the Gaza-Israel border at a number of different sites, where they were attacked by Israeli soldiers stationed at military bases on the border who fired live ammunition.

Media sources in Gaza said the soldiers fired dozens of live rounds directly at the protesters along the eastern border area of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army claimed that some protesters placed a bomb on the perimeter fence, and detonated it, before twenty protesters cross the fence, and the soldiers opened fire at them, killing three who approached a sniper post.

Other protesters took the bodies of the three Palestinians, and returned to the Gaza Strip. The army did not report any injuries among its soldiers.

On Friday morning, Israeli sources said firefighters extinguished ten blazes caused by flammable balloons, in lands in Israeli settlements across the perimeter fence.

Since the weekly ‘March of Return’ border demonstrations began on March 30th of this year, 204 Palestinians have been killed and more than 22,000 wounded by Israeli forces, who regularly fire indiscriminately on the protesters.

More than 4,000 of the wounded were hit with live ammunition fired by Israeli soldiers toward the demonstrators.

The protests call for ending the 12-year-long Israeli blockade of Gaza and for the right of return of the refugees.

Many of the casualties – more than 60 – occurred on May 14 when Israeli forces attacked Palestinian protesters marking the 70th anniversary of Israel’s occupation of historical Palestine and the ensuing ethnic cleansing of half a million Palestinian refugees.

Wisam Abdul-Majid Shalalda

October 12, 2018: Wisam Abdul-Majid Shalalda, 28, died in an Israeli prison where he had been held prisoner since 2015.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that Wisam died in Ayalon Israeli prison, in Ramla.

The PPS added that the circumstances of his death remain unknown, while members of Shalalda’s family said they were only informed that he had a stroke, and were asked to head to Abu Kabeer Israeli Forensic Institute to identify his body.

The PPS said the detainee, a married father of four children, was taken prisoner in 2015, and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

It held Israel responsible for his death, especially due to the extremely bad living conditions the detainees face, the lack of proper medical treatment, and added that the “silence of the international community encourages Israel to continue and escalate its violations.”

It is worth mentioning that Shalalda is the fourth detainee who died in Israeli prisons, or after being detained, since the beginning of this year.

The first is Yassin Saradeeh, 33, who was killed on February 22, 2018, by Israeli soldiers who shot him, then beat him repeatedly while he was lying on the ground.

The second is Aziz ‘Oweisat, 53, who died at an Israeli hospital, on May 20, 2018, from serious complications when he was assaulted by several soldiers in the prison, after they claimed he attacked an officer with a sharp object.

The third is Mohammad Zaghloul al-Khatib, 24, who was killed, on September 18, 2018, by Israeli soldiers who invading his home at dawn, before abducting and repeatedly assaulting him.
